Has anyone else experienced joint pain after starting Tecfidera? I started in Oct. 2013 and just recently my knees and hips have been killing me.
I talked with the on call doctor today, since I called she has called me back twice to tell me that there is a very rare side effect in which Tec can cause joint pain. Then she went on to tell me to stop the Tec for the weekend and my neuro will call me on Monday.
I'm a little freaked out by this. I thought I had studied the side effects carefully, but I must have missed this one! One part of me hopes the Tec is causing it, almost because I would have an answer...but the other part of me is saying I hope it's not because then I'd have to go back to needles! Although there are other options for oral meds, my neuro did not think they were a good idea for me.
*sigh* We shall see.

i had joint pain with beta seron that also went away----this may be a side affect that goes away with time as do the others. many people report their lrgs don't function as well for a week or 2, then goes away. in the meantime make certain your getting you fluids as "slightly dehaydrated" can cause fatue and joint muscle pain. Stopping it to see what happens sounds like very good advice. if you restart and it comes back after going away you will know, that's what i did with betaseron

What was the end result of your problem with joint pain? Did coming of the tecfidera help? I started taking Tecfidera in Dec. 2013 and am now experiencing some excruciating pain in my hip joint at times. I have not called anyone about it yet. I wasn't sure if it was related to the tecfidera or not. I was just wondering what your results were.

I started taking Tecfidera in March of this year and I am now having joint and muscle pain all over. I reached out to my neuro and she does not think it is related to the MS, but I did not have this much pain before on any other treatments that I have taken.

I started Tecfidera over a year ago and about 5 months ago I started having incredible joint pain in hips. I am going to a back specialist on the 22nd . First, they sent me to a hip specialist and he said it was my back. Anyway, if it's the Tecfidera I will be very upset! :(

I have had a similar experience since starting Tecfidera in October 2014. It first started with the hip pain. After about a month, the hip pain went away and the shoulder pain began. First the left shoulder began to hurt and that went away but now it's in my right shoulder. This pain has lasted the longest. I've had xrays but there is nothing there. Not even arthritus. When I told my neuro about the joint pain she said it's not a side effect of Tecfidera. All i know is that I did not have any pain before I started taking it.
