student loans forgiven ???

has any one had their student loans forgiven due to their disability? I was approved to be, but I am still in my probationary period that lasts three years. I am a little nervous because I went back to school, and that has been great to get my mind active and productive again. I am doing well in school and was asked to do work study as a tutor. I only make maybe 75 a week diong that, but will that mess up my discharge on my loans/ Its only 10 hours a week at the most and it is exhausting for me. I can't imagine me ever working full-time again. any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

for clarification: the student loans are for school attempts before I became disabled. I have returned since my disabiltiy under financial aid. I did not incur any new loans since.

Idk! I owe geez over $10,000 in student loans..I was repaying my loans back before I got sick..so idk! I hope they do

Hello. Yes they do , you need to call them and they will send you a form for your neuro . Good luck.

this is directly from the "total and permanent disability discharge" self-help packet under the heading "what to expect after you send in the application"


you will qualify at the end of the three years if:

your annual earnings from employment do not exceed the pverty line for a family of two in your state, regardless of your actual family size.

you do not receive any new federal loans or a TEACH grand and

if a federal loan was certified or a teach grant was originated before the date your dr signed the application, but a disbursement was made during the conditional discharge period, you must provide the department with documentation showing that the disbursement was returned to the loan holder or for a teach grant to the department within 120 days of the disbursement date.
