I deal with stiffness in the legs, and sometimes in the arms, due to spasticity issues, but the other evening, I was trying to open a jar. When I tried to open it, I couldn't get it...so, I passed it off to a family member. who then opened it fine,...however, then I had to have him also help me bend my finger back out to a straight position, as I couldn't make it work on my own! That was the first time I have found myself unable to actually un-bend my own fingers! It was just an odd feeling!

I assume that was simply due to the Spasticity issues. Do you suppose?
Just curious. Like I said, I know it was not a 'big deal'. I was just thinking that it was odd. It wasn't hurting, but, I just couldn't make my finger straighten back out on my own!

I know the feeling. At times, my left hand fingers feel like the they are on a hinge and just close into my palm. I too have to literally straighten them out, but they snap right back down. I guess it is just spastic muscles. It is very uncomfortable but usually only last for a few hours. I just have to wait it out, because I don't know anything to help it.

I have the opposite problem as well....cant bend my fingers when locked straight. For instance, I was cleaning the stove and my finger was pressing for resistance and it wouldnt bend back to a grip for a long time. Took almost 5 mins before I could bend that finger back.

My problem like you is opening soda bottles, or jars....but the spasms are horrible to make your fingers cooperate. I have succomed to having family open all things at least the first time, and every time after if my hands dont cooperate.

I have the problem when I bend fingers on my right hand they lock down so I had it checked and they told me I had trigger fingers and had 2 options and that was surgery or having them inject something like cortisone into them. I did the injections and they lasted quite a few years. So maybe some of you have the Trigger Finger and can get some relief from the injections, we are back to saying not everything is MS and is worth getting checked or do a search and see what matches up to trigger finger
