Hi everyone. Sorry for this long post but complicated situation.
I need help and my doctors aren't helping. I have had ms for 21 yrs. 6 months ago tapered off Lyrica (for nerve pain) because switched to amitriptiline.. Slow taper from 75 to 50 to 25mg.
At 25mg severe hip flexor spasms started day and night. Only thing that stops them when they start is percocet. I take percocet for chronic pain - as needed. Pain clinic prescriber won't get involved. (prescribed lyrica and percocet).. Neuro tried diamox - ended up in er then something else-didn't work. Recommends baclofen pump. My Spascity dr prescribing baclofen -at 50mg hasn't helped - going up to 80mg.
What do I do? Frightened-can't live like this. Baclofen pump suggested by neuros, Have very little spasticity. Spasticity Dr says no to pump - I am not a candidate. Oral baclofen isn't working. Don't want to try pump - extreme measure - as an experiment.
Anyone else had spasms start out of blue and not respond to baclofen? Don't want to take narcotics forever and spasticity dr wants me to get off the narcotics (only thing so far that helps) but advises against baclofen pump.
New neuro (seen for 2nd opinion) wants me to start baclofen pump also. Told her baclofen not working.
Any advice on another method that helped you with intense spasms? Anyone else have similar experience? Any recomendation on what I should do?

I too would be nervous about going to a pump if it were an implant - is there a way for you to try it as an external device before making the commitment?
