There are certain very strong smelling flowers that I can't smell at all. Weird. And lately I keep smelling something like food cooking. Last night I was sure I could smell scrambled eggs. Not sure what is causing this weird phenomenon.

I know that must be frustrating. Sounds like many things can cause these issues. Could it be that you have an allergy to plastics or chemicals? I'm starting to think I may or it could just be a sensitivity, or the MS?

My understanding from what I've run across online is that most typically, MSers experience loss of smell rather than hyperosmia. I'm stricken with the heightened sense of smell today and it's driving me crazy! I'd say it's most probably the "wi-fi" as the router is pretty close to me but then again, I know it's a heightened sense of smell in general as I can smell things like vinegar from across the table when it's on a salad, always know when there's something starting to burn on the stove and that sort of thing.

It occurs to me that I've always had problems in the big box stores too. I would never take anything for it but would rather find a way to absorb the toxins in the air than take a drug.

Hoping to hear if other MSers have problems with smell too.

Good luck with this problem. I haven't had this problem and it may be rare but definitely check with your neurologist. I think that the pills I take take away some of my sense of smell.

I hate artificial smells and buy everything scentless. So my house smells like nothing unless I am cooking.

I have had problems with smell and taste. One time, everything I ate tasted very salty. My smell sense kinds goes in and out. But I must say the salty taste thing was a great way to drop a few pounds.
