Not sure why it is often lateral, on one side of body. But I do know it does happen bilatterally too & lateral is a more positive prognosis. So be glad you can put lateral on your resume. :)
Although a prognosis of MS isn't positive. It's all relative. Bilateral is less positive than lateral.

Maybe when it's lateral people's lesions are more pronounced on one side of the brain? Not sure.

I'm almost totally bilateral, but the numbness hits worse on my right side and my initial attacks only hit on the right.

My first attack affected right side. Next attack affected left side. I always wondered if that made me bilater, but it looked better on my resume to say I had 2 lateral episode, than 1 bilateral episode ;)

My first episode was my left side - arm, leg & even the lung. My right arm has never been effected.

Mine was only on the right. I can't write and if I get too tired my right leg don't work well. All my problems are on the right.

I don't know why. My issues are on my left....expect when I lose bladder control.....that drips down my left and my right leg...lol

No I don't want it on any side, I was just curious why one is symptomatic on one side of the body usually.
