I'd be pissed as being deceived is never good. If I knew 100% that someone withheld info from me, lied by omission, or told me something that simply was NOT true and it was to THIS magnitude..I'd be pissed! But that's just me.

You have a right to be mad Dave, but just remember that the anger isn't going to get you anywhere.... especially with MS. You can't change the past, but you can definitely be more wise in the future. Hang in there.......

Yes, think of what could not have happened if you had earlier intervention with a MS therapy - you might have feelings in your pinky and toes, etc. if you started treatment early. Your MS might not have progressed to the point it is today if you had known what your medical records said and insisted upon further answers and treatment at that time. It's criminal what these doctors do to patients. But, what are you going to do about it now? Nothing. There is nothing you can do, unless you desire to confront the stupid doctors in your past.

However, this is a lesson for all limbo-land MSers, and that is to obtain copies of all doctor reports in the present, review all records, and question anything you see in the records that was not discussed with you as a patient. Don't let what happened to oleblue, and probably so many more of us, happen to you.

Yea, I'd be steaming, but what are you really going to do at this point? The worse thing you can do is become aggravated by this whole situation and cause your MS symptoms to flare. I'm very sorry this happened to you.

ummm i would be very upset because you coulda started treatment sooner,,,but being upset i suppose cant change the past..i would talk to the docs office manager though or contact the medical board folks about the doc who with held the info...he shouldnt be practicing medicine...

I completely understand! I was so ticked off when I read my records from my surgery in 2010, and then from the neuro I was seeing at the end of 2010 and 2011. When I got my records from 2010 I did not know that my gallbladder was not working properly, I did not know that I had two hernias, I did not know I had diverticulitis, but it was all in the records. The neuro I was seeing did not put any of the other symptoms in the records, he just reported that I had trouble with my legs nothing else, went so far as to say I denied having any other symptoms. So I am with you, I was ticked off to no end, still to this day I get mad when I think about it!

I would be mad as hell! No one has the right to withhold from you information about your condition. Whether you would have chosen a course of treatment or chosen to do nothing, it should have been YOUR choice. I think I would file a complaint against the doctor in the hope that at least he would think twice about doing the same thing to someone else. I do hope that you're able to move past the anger and not let it stress you too much. Saying a prayer for you that you're able to get the care you need.

I just read your comment and I agree with everyone else. I decided on my own for a second opinion. (demanded it!) I also demanded to be seen at a MS Center somewhere, Not such an easy task. The first MS center I called would not see me because they said I have already been seen by 2 Neuros> The first DR moved out of state so I went to another 5 years after my first episode. They still refused to see me because they only take new patients that have been seen only by one or no Neurologist. I think that is just dumb! So I continued down the very short list of MS Centers in my area and was able to get an appointment 3 month away and 1&1/2 hours away. They asked for me to get a copy of all of my records. When I got them, I of course went through them like anyone would do. The last Neuro was told by the MRI DR to redue my MRI because it was possibly showing a partial lession at the end of the image. When I ask that DR if I needed to do another MRI any time soon, he said no why would I even want to go through that again and in fact told me not to bother with another MRI for a couple of years. When I went to the MS Center, they looked over my records and emediatly ordered another MRI because that last one was useless! I will from this point on request copies of all records regarding me. As I think we should all do. I thank you for responding to my comment yesterday. You and others here have made me decide to go ahead and try something, just not sure what my DR has in mind for me. My prayers are with you and everyone that has to deal with these types of problems. I do know that I get less angry at every day situations. I do speak out more to those that just fell like I or others are less then them! I have always been shy and quiet, and I would sometimes wish that I had "backbone" just not under these circumstnces. lol

You don't need permission to be angry or happy. However, I also wouldn't like being lied to. You may have a legal case, especially since the lack of treatment probably contributed to your progression of MS. I think looking into this could make you feel more empowered, Staying angry does not do you any good. It doesn't change how they handled this situation or what has happened since. It stink sreally. Moving forward is the key, and I feel like they should be held accountable.

With ya here too!!! It took me forever to realize or know that I needed to ALWAYS GET MY RECORDS & GO OVER THEM MYSELF! I had to pick up records for a doc office one day & when I did I read them, & could not believe what all was in there! They don't put hardly anything that you tell them in there about your symptoms or disease, or injuries! But then they put tons of shit that you don't even freaking know about!!! And, they also put bad stuff about you that never happened or that was never said! They have like their own freaking version reality!!!

They even say that you didn't say anything about it! Like Iray was saying here about the doc denying that she even said anything about it!!! I read my neuro records & one place he denies me saying anything about what I plainly went over & complained about with him! And, further more it really chaps my ass when you go to all the trouble to type all your symptoms on paper & your medical history on paper, etc.... take it in & give it to the pricks for them to have IN WRITING!!! UP FRONT! ALL THE FREAKING IDIOTS GOT TO DO IS JUST FREAKING READ!!! I MEAN THEY GOT THROUGH MEDICAL SCHOOL, SO YOU ALWAYS ASSUME THAT THEY CAN READ!? RIGHT!? :) AND THEN THEY REFUSE TO READ ANY OF THE SHIT & WASTE YOUR TIME STANDING THERE ASKING YOU WHAT YOU ALREADY GOT WRITTEN DOWN!!! FREAKING READ IT STUPID!!! AND, then you find out all this freaking shit when you finally get your hands on the records!!! And, their soooo retarded!!! They stand there & argue & deny what you plainly know to be the truth!!!

I got pissed at my stupid family doc today! She's acting like she knows more about MS then freaking patients who got it--as to what they experience or go through!? I'm thinking & almost said it!? Ya! I tell you what doc!? When you get this freaking shit, or any AI shit, or any other shit that your patient is suffering from then you can come back to me or them & tell me or them that!!! But until then don't freaking tell me or us what we can & can't possibly experience with our freaking disease!!!!

PS she says that MSer's don't have cognitive issues! That it's almost never a symptom with MS!? Can you believe that shit!!!???
