I'm back with a new question. For a few months, I've been experiencing (sometimes a lot, sometimes hardly any) brief shooting pains in my legs, arms, feet, etc. What I'm wondering is if others have had this? I really don't have any pain otherwise, so I feel really lucky. I'm just curious about these shooting pains. Lately I've been experiencing them more and although they really don't bother me, I wonder if this could be as a result of the MS and if they will eventually get worse. I hope not.

I had shooting pains in my hands, arms, legs and feet since I was probably 16 years old. I called them burners. I get them once in a great while, maybe a couple a month. When I had my first MS attack this past August, I got them more frequently, but now they've dwindled off to their "normal" frequency.

Ok, just to fill you in a little. Last summer was a horrible summer for me. I was experiencing all kinds of pain that pain meds, even heavy duty ones for post surgery couldn't deal with. I was also experiencing numbness and a load of other weird symptoms that made me think I was having sezures.
When the symptoms were finally figured out by one of the Drs in my Neuro's office, I was prescribed a anti-seizure med called Neurotin or Gabapentin. There are a ton of them out there for us. But you need to let your Neuro know exactly whats going on. Ask him if a med like this could help.

My husband has been having severe sciatica. Since he has an old back injury, it is difficult to diagnose if it is due to the MS or the degenerative disc disease. The result of his MRI of his back came today with no changes, so no reason for him to be experiencing the pain down his leg (sciatica). He has not been able to get comfortable even with very strong pain meds. I now suspect that the pain is from his MS. Which is why I joined, to find out if others had this problem with MS. Today, he stated that he had some tingling in his fingers. Which made me think so even more.

I have had shooting pain in my arms and legs along with tingling since I could remember. When I got diagnosed with MS, I asked my neurologist about it, and he told me it is definately MS related. He also told me that stretching, yoga, or doing something to relax the areas will help--I tried this, and it does help, but not as much as I hoped it would.

I've been getting them in my head a few times a day for a couple of months. I was at neuro Monday and he prescribed Neurotin for me to try. I will take the first one tonight so I hope it helps.
