Yes, this happens to me. It is one of the first signs that I am going to loose vision in my rt eye. My perferial(sp) vision is still gone. But my vision is slowly comming back. The dr said I am having optic migraines.
It starts with shadows out of the corner of my eye.
Do you have any eye pain with it?

Nope, not with the seeing stuff. I do sometimes get shooting pains in my eye--but the pain is brief. It is sharp pain, however. I can't necessarily associate it with the seeing things. Last week was when I thought I saw the furry object out of the corner of my eye...and then after that I had nasty headaches that ibuprofen would not touch. These lasted for around six days and were on the top left side of my head. I found an old migrane medication that was out of date, but still worked. It took the pain away until the next day. I finally got rid of the headache entirely, and hope to stay that way.

The bird thing was interesting! I was teaching a class and the window was open--old style window with no screens on the 2nd floor. I SAW a bird FLY into my classroom and it head straight toward me. I ducked! I was about to say something when I looked at my students and they did not seem to surprised by anything except my reaction. I don't know what I said, but I somehow covered up for my sudden ducking motion. I realized that no bird had flown into the room, but I sure thought that one had! Very strange. The more recent visual 'sightings' (no pun intended) are just small quick movements out of the corner of my eye--usually the right eye I think.

Yeah! I'm not crazy! This is something I never told anyone about, it's kinda spooky when you think about it. (I watch alot of horror movies).

I also "see" things. It looks like a quick shadow or movement...was starting to think I was seeing spirits!!I also get migraines..usually for long spurts at a time..almost always behind left eye but now seem to move down into my jaw & face..I don't have optic problems(at least that I know of)I wonder if it is MS related or due to something else?

That's been happening to me too. Unfortunately, it's usually when I'm at work in a room all by myself or as the only adult in a room full of children. It was really driving me crazy until I told myself that I'm seeing ghosts -- but friendly ghosts because otherwise I wouldn't go back to work!

I have noticed it more at work I think because I have very blurry distance vision there under the flurescent lighting. In unnatural lighting, I've have a tough time seeing distances clearly -- I'm good for about 8-10 feet, and that's about it. I also get migraines, but I haven't noticed a pattern of my "visitors" at work and my headaches.

Happens all of the time, I think someone is walking in a room and get starteled. Had it really bad when I had Optic Neuritis.

YES I GET THIS QUIT OFTEN TOO, IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS I NOTICE WHEN I GOT SICK MY PEROFIAL VISION IS GONE.

Michelle, I'm really glad that you started this thread!! I've mentioned this same things in a few of my other posts, and it has been a recurrent daily event in my "diary of symptoms" that I keep for my neuro. One of my "many" tests that I had to endure yesterday (I officially feel like a "lab rat" now!) was called a Visual Field / Neural Response test (something like that). It was crazy...I had to watch this little white square in the middle of a screen, while other squares were doing eratic, crazy motions all around it...thought I was going to "wig" out! I noticed that my eyes kept wondering off...had trouble staying affixed to the center white square. I wonder if my neuro. was testing me for this very thing. I too have had extreme pains in both eye socket for several years, eye sight has gotten worse, and about a month ago, my eyes went totally blurry (both eyes) while I was wearing my glasses. I tried cleaning my glasses to no avail. That scared me...lasted about 30-45 min. I've been feeling like I'm going psycho lately because the "peripheral movements & sightings" have been so dramatic and getting so frequent that it's now on a... pretty much, all-the-time basis! I noted this to my neuro. in my last set of diary symptoms. By the way, I also see many floaters/spots, etc... I've seen them for years, but not near to the degree/frequency that I see them now. I'm anxious to find out the results of my visual field test and my neuro.'s interpretation.

I also have this especially when am reading a book. It scares me to death! Though I believe it has to do with your peripheral vision. My ophthalmologist says that I should contact her if I do start seeing black things. Guess I'll have to make another appointment

had this when I lost rt peripheral vision 3 yrs ago. Vision came back after about a year. I tested fine on my last vision field test, but there was some increased anomolies on my retina. i still think i see things to the side - miscellaneous movements. Its better that not seeing things - like cars coming or a child standing at my right shoulder who thinks i'm joking by hollering for him to come here.

Tonya,I've had the same thing with decreasing vision that lasts for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. And, like you, I found myself cleaning my glasses to get sharper vision! Fortunately, I had only a week of this off and on; hasn't returned since (well, possibly once but just for a few minutes)and I hope it doesn't. After that episode I went to the eye doctor and the vision in my left eye had become worse but the right eye was still fine. It sounds like your visual problems are much worse than mine. I am wondering if a lesion has become 'active' or if you have a new brain lesion that is creating havoc for you vision? Just a thought, but worth getting checked out. Our vision is too precious to 'wait and see'.
