Welcome to the world of MS. You just can't predict when it will flare up on you! My neuro will say, "come back in six months." Three months later, some new symptom will crop up and I'll be right back in her office. So, basically, the answer is it's different for everyone.

I went 20 years without a flare up, but this one has last 8 months, and it's only gotten worse.

My last one was about 3months long. The next one could be next week, that's the bad thing about MS you never know when it's going to flare up or how long it will last when it does.

when i was dx'd 5 years ago i went straight into solumedrol treatments and was put on a CRAB drug. i went about four years problem free and then was hit with a major relapse in '07 and just recently this month another one. i'm good now and i'm hoping the solumedrol / rebif combo is gonna keep things in check for a while.

I guess it makes sense that it's not predictable. I guess I was just looking for some hope that this spell would pass sometime soon. I can't do anything. The fatigue, dizziness just general drugged or foggy feeling has me completely incapacitated. I'm sooooooooo tired. But on the other hand have trouble actually sleeping during these spells. Is this typical?

This is very common, as well. Even if you are mentally, physcially, and emotionally exhausted, sometimes you can't get that switch flipped in your brain to actually get to sleep. And sometimes, you sleep, but don't go into REM, so you might as well have never tried! The NMSAA is finally doing sleep studies, and realize that sometimes with the degree of fatigue we can have, we can also have the opposite degree of insomnia or poor sleep.

Fatigue's a major drag. Have your Neuro prescribe Amantadine for you. If it doesn't work, give Provigil a try.

Oh if only we could know how long our flare ups would last! I was only diagnosed last year. I have had one actual flare up but I am symptomatic so I have several symptoms that will pop up whenever and I just have to deal. Heat and stress always seem to make things worse for me.

MY LAST ATTACK LASTED MAYBE 2 WEEKS AND TAPERED OFF.THANKYOU STEROIDS.BEEN DOING GOOD FOR OVER A YEAR.
