For about a month now I have been numb from my ribcage down. This came on very suddenly and hasn't gotten much better, even with steroid treatment. I had an MRI last week and the report is claiming that my MS is stable.

MR the cervical spine with and without IV contrast demonstrates largely normal signal and structure to the cervical spinal cord and craniocervical junction. There is a very slight indistinct area of T2 hyperintensity at the midline in the cord at the C2-3 level. This is only hyperintense on T2 sequences and is not hyperintense on FLAIR sequences. There is no contrast enhancement. In retrospect this is stable from the prior exam.

Impression: Stable exam

Can I still experience a relapse with no new lesions? I'm concerned about the T2 hyperintensity that he mentions in the report, but then he says stable. I don't see my neuro until next week for my follow-up visit and I'm concerned. Why am I considered stable when my MS is clearly causing me issues? My numbness is going away in some areas, leaving behind a painful pins and needles sensation and lots of muscle cramps. I can barely walk. Anyone else experience something similar?

Have you talked to your neurologist about this? Many things can cause temporary symptoms, including a UTI. The pins and needles and muscle cramps I had went away when I stay on a steady dose of Magnesium. I'd much rather taking that than a pharmaceutical drug with side affects. Doctors don't talk about magnesium though. Most seem to be brainwashed with the pharma protocols.

Yes Meg40815 had a similar experience myself. Woke up one morning about 8 months ago with the right side of my back in the rib area numb. Dr. gave me short term dose of prednisone that helped a bit. The numbness pretty much faded over time. Now I’m left with a slight dulled sensation on that side and pins and needles when I take a shower after working in the heat.
I was diagnosed with MS. Age 21 and now 56 and doing pretty good. I have my set backs but well expected with the disease. I push myself accompaaned by a lot of rest when needed.

Hi Meg40185. I’m new to this group and came across your post. Just wondering how you are doing now. I took a hit that caused numbness from my chest down with shooting pins and needles when I bent my head forward. I was sent for MRI and the doctor told me he almost missed a new legion near the base of the brain. He even showed me and it was barely there. I couldn’t understand how something so faint could cause so much trouble. It improved with a round of Solumedrol and more importantly time. Hope you are doing better!

I am doing a lot better now! When I went for a visit with my neuro, he showed me a small lesion on my c-spine that was causing the problem. It's crazy that something so small can be such a nuisance!! I am still a little numb in spots and have the pins and needles sensation, but it did improve. I hope you continue to feel better!! I was switched to Tecfidera and I begin it tomorrow. After 6 years on Rebif, this is a big change.
