It's hard to say because I had a lot of anxiety going into starting Rebif in the first place (dealing w the dx and accepting the ongoing routine of shots etc). I know I did a lot of meditation to help (I have these guided meditation apps on my iPhone that are helpful); but I also take antidepressants. For emergencies though, I have a Rx for Lorazepam (generic for Ativan) --very helpful for when anxiety gets really bad. (Not something I take regularly though. You should really discuss this with your neuro -- or better yet, a neuro who specializes in MS.

I have been on Rebif for 6 mos now and have noticed the initial side effects have definitely decreased over time. It's just getting through the initial ramping up phase that was a bit challenging.

I have been taking rebif for seven years. It has worked very well. The first 3 months were the toughest. When they boosted me to the highest dose(44mcg), I had major anxiety. I called my neurologist the next day and he suggested dropping the dose back down to 22mcg for a while to give my body more time to adjust. I stayed at 22mcg for several weeks and then tried bumping up again and did fine. I also had severe insomnia for the first twelve weeks. I stuck with it and all of these side effects cleared as my body adjusted, but had to back off on the highest dose to give my system more time. I checked with my neurologist often and called MS LifeLines(rebif support) a lot. Don't hesitate to use these resources as much as you need to! Best wishes!

thank you for your advice! so helpful to hear! i've heard great things about rebif, so hope my body will adjust. i hope as you say, the side effects will decrease over time the MS nurse said to continue and see how it goes.

I got anxiety from Rebif bigtime. Report it to MS Lifelines. They have to report it to FDA.
I take buspirone (7.5 mg. 4 times a day) plus .5 mg. Klonazapam 2 times a day. They help me a lot.

ezone, are you still taking rebif? sorry to hear that you are having anxiety :-( but glad that you have some medicine that helps. i am feeling better today, but had a lot of anxiety last night after the injection and a little this morning.

Yes, I am still on Rebif (10 yrs.) but no one at Rebif told me about anxiety. They all talk about depression. I had to figure it out. I got phobias but they went away w/ buspirone.
Buspirone wks for me but I hear it doesn't for everyone. It helps me. Hope you get help. The anxiety doesn't go away for on Rebif but meds help a lot. Good luck.

I was real P.Od at MS Lifelines. I didn't know about them for 8 yrs and had no support from them. Then I wrote their CEO to complain and then I wasnt allowed to call MS Lifelines. I went off of Rebif in protest for a yr, went on Avonex and my MS got worse. I wrote overseas and got them to allow me to call MS Lifelines but their hold message is BS. I went bk on Rebif and call in all side effects.
BTW, the CEO was fired the next year and Serono was fined over $1.4 million for bribing doctors to prescribe their drug. Serono is very corrupt.

I can tell you all kinds of things about Serono and Rebif. Some of their nurses are ignorant. They are wrong in some of their advice. They didnt tell me about scar tissue from the shots. They never came out to my house to correctly show me how to give shots. Ask them about scar tissue.
Their head nurse JoAnne Scardino is a A** H **.

Ozone, sorry to hear about the trouble you've had with the people at rebif and serono. The nurse that came to my house to show me how to do the shots was actually really nice, but I haven't had any experience with MS lifelines yet.

Strange that Rebif doesn't mention anything about Anxiety or scar tissue. Do you find the anxiety lasts into the days when you aren't taking the shots? I had an allergic reaction to copaxone, so I'm a little more anxious about unusual symptoms..... And with the injection sites do you pick a different part to inject with the next rotation?

Just becareful.....when I first was diagnosed and doc put me on Rebif, one of my friends was over my house and she said "have you started new meds"
apparently I was very suicidial during Rebif

JUST BE CAREFUL AND TELL FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO WATCH YOU ANYTIME YOU TAKE NEW MEDS !
