In Table 3 of the 2009 International differential MS diagnosing guide...it has a table that lists CIS Clinical Featutres and Lilkihood of Signaling an MS diagnosis listed by
"CIS features typically seen in MS"
And
"Less Common CIS Features Features that MAY be Seen in MS"
And
"Atypical CIS features not expected in MS"

For areas of the Optic Nerve,Brainstem/Cerebellum,Spinal Cord, Cerebral Hemispheres.

Under "Less Common CIS Features that MAY be seen in MS" for "Brainstem/Cerebellum" is Deafness.

I was told that it is possible, but that it would more likely be in both ears, so I would say check with your doctor. I have had a decrease in hearing and a sort of hum for a couple of years. I have had it all checked and rechecked, and absent anything else, it is now due to MS.

All I know is that that kind of things come up during the normal aging process...

Yeah! I heard that it's all the about whether or not you have lesions near or on the brain stem--that affects the ears.

I dont know if it is ms caused or not but I am going to get hearing aids next week as I have hearing loss in both ears.
