David uses a wheel chair when he is out and about, at home he uses a cane (and when he is just popping down the street for bread and milk) if we are going to walk a fair distance maybe walking longer than 30mins he will take the chair as his legs just start to give out and he falls a lot
After I was homebound for a couple of years I decided to get a power chair. It was amazing I could take my dog for a walk's. I would run to the store and get a few groceries. My world opened up.
I was having trouble with foot drop, fatigue, coordination, and balance. I found that once I use the power chair for outside activities I was not as tired. I could do more and my mood improved, I could do more things for myself. Go places for myself,
Now looking back on it I wish I went into the chair of lot of years earlier. Once I had the chair I used it for longer outings. For short trips or inside I would walk with my cane. I could choose to use the chair or not.
