Hi,

I'm on prednisone for a bronchial/sinus infection. It's not a huge dose and is tapered. Still and all, it seems like when I'm on steroids, MS symptoms actually get worse and I'm curious if this has happened to any of you?

For example, I am not just seeing little things dart out of the corner of my eye, but not BIG stuff! First I 'saw' a big fuzzy thing dart in front of me in my garage (scared the heck out of me) and then yesterday I saw one of our cars (with my husband in it) drive into the driveway. Of course, neither of these 'visions' were real.

Today, leg weakness to the point that I thought I might fall. Didn't. A fuzzy feeling in the right leg--sort of like that initial feeling one gets when a leg or arm just starts to fall asleep.

And emotionally--Wow--sometimes I wonder who I am. Today wasn't bad, but the 2nd day on prednisone was insane--an emotional roller coaster.

I am hoping that these symptoms are the result of prednisone--I am pretty sensitive to a few medications--and that I am not losing my mind.

I'm sorry that you have bad expereices with pred.. I guess I'm just a minority on this issue

Eloise, my symtoms actually got better when I was on the pred. But, the emotional roller coaster was horrible. I was horribly irritable to the point it actually scared me, I cried all of the time, and everything in between. The doctor put me on Zanax to calm me down. The Zanax helped. I was glad when I was done with the meds, but pred did help my MS flare up.

I wish you the best and just know you aren't losing your mind. :)

I know what ya going through, i start the iv steroids today for 3 days then 5 days oral and they make me moody, break out like a teenager, cant sleep, i hate them

Good luck with the prednisone. I agree with the others, it does make my MS symptoms better but it is killer on the rest of my body. Constipated, moody, depressed even. I hope you get relief soon.

'jarcher' has put it well. I had the same reaction. As you are having also. I rode it out or slept.You will have an energy rush your first half-day. These drugs (pills or IV), plus others, will eleveate excberations with side effects. Check with your gp or neuro about this; there are prescribed alternatives.
MS and its meds can screw up all of you.
