Go back to ur PCP & have another test taken or go to CVS or nur local Drug Store and buy a pack of home test strips that will show u whether or not u have a UTI. I don't know what MS Med u r taking, but last Fall I was getting another UTI the day after one had cleared up. I was using Rebif at the time. For whatever reason it was causing me to have UTIs one right after the next.

When u called ur PCP they gave u your original results, not results for your issue.

Be careful, every time I would get a UTI it would be worse than the pervious one and eventually it took my walking ability away, which I got back after several months of intensive PT.

Hi Chrissy! I'm actually not on any meds. I haven't yet been diagnosed with MS, just clinically isolated syndrome. Thanks for the info! I finished the antibiotics on Thursday and was having symptoms again by Sunday. I am supposed to call my PCP first thing in the morning to see if they can get me a same day appointment. I try to be very careful about not getting sick. It seems to exacerbate the issues left over from my first episode and I'm always worried that any illness will bring on a relapse which would bring on an official MS diagnosis.

Just wondering why I would suddenly start getting these. I've never had one in my life. Been with the same man for 10 years. Haven't changed my habits. 3 UTI's in 6 months when I've never had one before. Is that worth a visit to the urologist?

Please listen to this. Last year I got a UTI in the hospital and I had a standing prescription for an antibiotic so I started taking it. I then went in and got tested. I tested negative. I stopped the antibiotics and got symptoms again. I went in again and saw an old doc. He said that being on antibiotics can throw off the results. You can get a false negative. I tested negative a second time because I had antibiotics in my system.

So the next time, I went in, I went off the antibiotics and just took the over the counter stuff that makes your pee orange but doesn't affect the negative or positive of the results. It helps the burning and the rush to use the bathroom. I tested positive this time for an infection with no antibiotics in me. I went through the 7 days of the antibiotic. The antibiotics didn't work. I got put on another one and that didn't work either because I tested positive again. I tested positive 3 times and 2 negatives but I really had the infection from the hospital stay so they were false negatives. The last time, I got put on a stiff antibiotic and it did the trick but I was worried that I had an antibiotic resistant strand. Luckily, I didn't.

Anyway, don't listen to the doctors-if it tests negative and you have all the symptoms you could be positive. If you are still on an antibiotic, it can test negative when you are really positive. I hope this helps.

Good luck Also, sometimes the dip sticks don't show an infection. Ask for a spin test where they have to send the sample out and get the results that way. It is more reliable. I learned this from another MSer who had had infections. Good luck.

Hi again... Up until last Fall I had never gotten a UTI. My MS Nurse gave me some additional information to help me not get a UTI again. Sorry if this is too straight forward. -- after you have sex immediately go to the bathroom. Apparently if it sticks around it can cause a UTI. This was new to me. My Neurologist now gives me a standard scrip to help prevent another UTI.

I also suffer from recurring UTI's, I try and drink my 2 Litres of Water a day and take Cranberry Extract, It has reduced the amount of times I now suffer from them.

One other thing, I remembered that the dip test is a test of white blood cells which usually shows signs of an infection. If you are on a therapy drug, it can make your white cell count low so that test is not good for detecting a UTI. So sending out for the test results can really help.
