I have been dxed with optic neuritis.
I do not know anything about it.
Can it be treated?
Is there anything they can do about the pain??
I am on pain killers for the pain in my back and legs but for some reason it does not touch the pain in my eyes. Every time I move them I get a sharp pain & at other times it feels like someone got their thumb in my eye.
How do you do the daily living activities?
I mean you use your eyes for everything.

The first I had iv steroids, which helped.
The second time I decided to ride it out and it passed in a couple of weeks. But everyone is different.
One thing which really helped was that the optician made me a pair of glasses, with clear glass on one side and with the other side with a pattern like fly wire on it. This helped a lot, and was a big improvement on the pirate patch!!!

The prognosis depends on the underlying cause. Most episodes resolve spontaneously, with return of vision in two weeks to three months. About 90% of people with optic neuritis will recover most of their vision within six months of onset. However, about 14% will have a recurrence of optic neuritis in the affected eye, and 12% will develop optic neuritis in the other eye within 10 years. If the patient has one or more abnormal lesions on the MRI, the risk of MS within 15 years is 72%.

like ...gee where is my neuritis.. i have like 15 easy visible
lesions on the MRI and they are all over the place!!

My doc here is great. He faxed my neuro-ophthaligist & I got an appointment in a couple of weeks.
I was told a couple of yrs ago during my first attack that I had a lesion in my vision center. They did quite a few scans told me I have "darkened" vision is like I am waring sunglasses all of the time.
I was told all of the mylon was gone from my optic nerve that is why my eyes hurt so much
