I've been on Opana er for a year .it has worked great up to two monthsto t. make a long story short , I have personally talked to the Opana manufactuer and they have received many consumer complaints since they change the look and formula . the stuff doesn't work right anymore. I can't even get it , the drug stores I use don't have it. so I'm in misery , total pain once again 24/7. I can't see the pain clinic til Monday, 4 long days away. I hope they will get me something to take because I've been in bed two weeks in extreme pain.

My doctor changed me over to oxycotin, and it seems to be working for me. I hope you get some relief soon.

I was researching that . my pain level i. its my legs, feet and ankles so high, 24/7. I have to have something strong otherwise I'm in bed. my whole world stops, then I get depressed which just makes things worse. God, why can't they find a cure??? They get good leads but always turns into dead ends because of the complexity. I know I get tired of the battle and its easy to give in.

I agree wiith the new Opana er not working because like you, it was a micracle med for me in dealing with the leg spacisty in my legs. The new opana er formulation gave me burning in my stomach, headaches, made my heart race out of my chest for about an hour, I was an emotional wrck, and also made me sick. I tried methadone before trying the new opana er(because of what I had read, and it scared me), and couldn't take it because of urinary retention, and also it didn't seem to do anything as in pain control. After all of this I went and saw a Doctor at my Pain Management clinic, and he decided for me to try Fentanyl patches, and started me at 50 mcg because I also could take up to four 10/325 oxycodones a day when was on the opana er(original formula). I did you read your comment about trying oxycontin. I will tell you I was on oxycontin before I got switched to opana, and why I got switched is because oxycontin(produced by the same company as opana, endo) changed it's formula to so it did not work as well for me at all, and gave me headaches. Since I have been on the Fentanyl patches(we ended up having to change when I change the patch to every 2 days instead of 3 because on the 3rd day I felt nothing which caused me to feel weird and sick) I can say life has been awesome in dealing with my MS leg pain. I still have break through pain, but at the moment they don't want to give me an IR med so my tolerance level doesn't start growing higher. I'm not saying Fentanyl is for everyone, but it has helped me oh so much, and I'm back to being able to do things, and not just lay on the couch.

Sounds like we're in the same boat. I tried the patch a few years ago , made me a complete zombie. since the opanna let down, I am now on a 24 hr ER called exalgo ER. So far IM doing well with it :)) they are starting me out low and moving up the dosage each week.check it out if the patch doesn't work for you. I have had a long journey with various pain meds. They either didn't work or had horrible side effects . I still take roxicodone for breakthrough pain as my pain feels like my legs,feet and ankles are being crushed and Turing to Ashes. Very difficult to live with at times. I'm in bed or the couch ALOT.

Hi Carolinagirl,

You should ask for MSCONTIN (i.e. morphine sulfate). It is the same thing basically and does not cost anything near what Opana did/does cost.

I've been taking morphine sulfate (MSCONTIN) on and off for a few years now and am able to let go of it when I wish to. At present I take 1-2 30 mg. tablets once a day at bedtime.

So sorry to hear this. I have never heard of or used Opana. I use the Fentanyal patch at 50 and change every 2 days. I can not live without it, the pain is sooo bad.

The MS Cotin is my doctors next step if the Exalgo doesn't work . The exalgo is something like morphine . I have never understood my MS . My mris have not changed since the day of diagnosis in 2005. Now this is a good thing but I do feel a decline in my health but my MRI doesn't show anything different . Recently I am waking up alot during the night with arm, hips and knee pain, it's in my joints . Weird, my doctor says it's spasticity. Anybody have that going on ??

I'm thankful that I don't have serious pain other than the sharp ones that run through my bones from time to time and the muscle aches. I just want Xanax for my non fuctional spasming gut and I'm treated like a drug addict and no one will prescribe them! So frustrating especially if it would help with anxiety, spasms, rest, and most importantly keeping all food and fluids down !!!! I'm sorry you guys have such pain!
