nueralgia? numbness etc.Foot issues,feeling sorry
AusSue
Is this neuralgia? Last Friday my tongue suddenly felt like it had swollen & was fuzzy & I couldn't talk properly. My nose was numb & I felt & bit shaky/yuck.
Friend gave me glucoze tablet to try to help me (she is diabetic) & it did help but it happened again in the day. Mouth is also going numb & wont open much at same time & both eyes close bit, can still talk but not clear.
This happened again Friday night during the evening. Woke up with it about 2am & couldn't see out of either eye or move much so hubby went & made us a cup of tea. Improved a bit after that.
Saturday morning my whole face is red, cheeks swollen (can tell as pushing on glasses esp on right side). Still can't see at all out of right eye & it is burning all day so far. Shower did not help & have put the 1/2 dose cortisone cream (I have for face) on it 3 times & it just sucks it up. Left eye varies from a little blurry to ok.
Left hand is definitey swollen as rings will not come off it at all, (usually take some off for shower). Feet are real bad with pain today too so didn't help to go shopping with walker. Had to keep sitting down for breaks. David can't put the scooter in & out of car too much as hurt his back & it is very painful, we haven't worked out the straps for ramp on back of car yet.
While we were out I had to stop to eat something sweet after about 1/2 hour as the pain & tingles were real bad & I felt better after that for a while. I bought jelly beans & had them in my bag & needed them again while trying to do shopping, always carry cordial & that usually gets me through but not at the moment. Hot sweats regularly with pain at same time.
Really don't know what is going on & if it is ms causing all this pains Or sugar levels too low & something happening there. Had blood tests for diabetes only recent & they were ok. Still worried as diabetes is in my family & I have been dx with hypoglyceamia which is low blood sugar before which is the opposite.
I know this is a muddled post but any advice will be appreciated. I know so some may be ms or my Dr is probably going to tell me to stop looking at problems etc but I am not looking for them, they just keep coming.
And more since then. I thought I had posted this but hadn't. Add to that both my feet are giving me lots of problems. My left foot has got a lump under it that I was told by gp is soft tissue. It keeps getting larger & is now visible, it is where the arch of the foot should be. This has been gradually getting larger too.
Now my right foot has decided to give me hell. I went to gp, had xrays, bone scans & it was not conclusive. Showed that I have stress fracture & disease in foot. Had to go to hospital on Wednesday to get it checked more as couldn't even walk. Still more bad news. The nerves are not communicating in the foot & blood flow is interrupted to the foot.
Now I have to wait to see the orthopaedic clinic which could take anytime like 3 months.
In the mean time I need to use the wheelchair & scooter as can only walk on balls & outside of foot.
After all this I have taken a couple of days off work & rest & doing nothing.
Sorry for long post about so many things but had to rant hoping someone might understand some of it.

My first thought was the sugar too. You seem to feel slightly better once you had the lollies and jelly beans? I know that is a small part of what is going on. I gather from the other facial concerns your appetite is low also? I think this would also absolutely be affecting you.
Sounds neuro to me, you know i'm no expert. And the other foot could be compensating also for the lump and probs on the other foot? Hence inconclusive results. Nerves absolutely. I think it sounds like this for many of what is going on. But what to do?
I'm sorry hubby's back is bad too. Was the hydro helping? I know with your eye and swollen stuff it must be really pushing you to your limits. It's gone from 28 degrees to 17 and raining there i know which hasn't helped. Do you find the heat affects you more too? I know with M.S it does yet ironic the warmer weather is better, so if it's all over the shop there is it impacting you?
The burning on your face have they said if that's neuro? Circulation?
I know when i had really bad excema ( i know it's not the same or as bad but bear with me), my acupuncturist talked about stress and worry and the heat from the liver going up and getting stuck in the face (in my case neck and ears and then face red everywhere). I know acupuncture is exxy but i wonder if they could help you? Though be very careful who you see. Mine is part of a naturpathic clinic and has helped with alot.
Do you also think any of your meds are giving you these side affects? Is that possible? I know for me when i was on avonex i had SO many side affects that it was unbearable even on 1/4 syringe only!
I know i am not offering answers but as a friend wanted to offer some words and support xo
I don't go to a naturopath as the good one that was local moved away & went to another one who only wanted me to buy heaps of different things to take (more vitamins, tonics etc) & spend about $100 a month on it as well as fortnightly visits. Tried some of them including tonic & no improvement so gave up. As for acupuncture I haven't found a good one near by & it hurts LOL.
As for the feet. There is something wrong with the right foot as on the refferral it says nerve damage & senopsis (from memory) or something similar. I will go back to gp this week & see if she knows any orthopaedic Dr's near by that don't cost too much.
Looks like both feet need to be treated in some way as otherwise will lose mobility or what I have left of it. Both feet are sore (in their different ways today.
Left leg spasm bad last night & is stiff still today so glad don't have to do much but rest.
I go to the neuro who has looked after me for over 10 years & esp in regards to the possible epilepsy/fits etc & other things as well as ms. He is very thorough & understanding. He communicates with the ms neuro too who is at a different hospital. I see him Thursday so will be interesting to see what he says about right eye which is closed again today & no vision through the mist. Typing with one eye.
Thank you so much for responding & caring.
Hugs to you too. xxx
I am going to ask the gp to get my sugar levels tested fully just for my peace of mind if nothing else. It must be either too high or low as the glucose & sweet things are helping each time & it is a few times recently esp.
I know from your posts that you cope with so much and I trully admire you for the way you deal with things.
Hang in there.
.I keep going round in circles in whats left of my brain.
I am going to see the orthotist on Tuesday to get him to review my leg supports as need mor support to anke due to osteoarthritis in ankles. Hopefully he will be able to get the funding for something different than I have as feet point out when walk even with current one's. Will see what he says as works with podiatrist & physio, all at same place.
He wont be able to help the pain as told need to see surgeon for it.
How are you both doing?
Said left foot is similar to spur & right is nerve issues too which is being made worse by ms issues.
Private foot surgeons wont touch me because dont have private insurance - who can afford that.
Will see neurologist on Thursday, hope get better help from him.
