I'm going for it. ADA exists for a reason and since my employer has refused to grant a reduced schedule, I've started the process for a hearing. I've paid my dues to my state organization and now my dues will be put to work. I won't have to pay for the lawyer, thank goodness due to paying dues for so many years. I am relieved not to have to think about returning to school with the same work load. If my district won't 'meet me halfway,' I guess I'll try to retire with disability. There is no way that I will repeat the health nightmare that I experienced last year! Just thinking about trying to work full time again this next school year makes me so anxious that I sometimes get physically ill. I have not experienced this type of anxiety before and it tells me that I HAVE to do something. I didn't want to make waves, was just going to be a 'good girl' and do my best, but the anxiety has forced my hand. And I'm glad. Will update you if you desire on what happens. Nothing will happen for a week to ten days or so. I know that my employer, at least one of them, will NOT be happy. I've done everything in my power to change my situation in a proactive way only to have one roadblock after another thrown at me. So...hopefully the Americans with Disabilities Act will apply to my situation, enabling me to do my job and still have some quality of life.

Anyone else tackled your employer with ADA? I'd love to know what happened and get any advice/tips you might have.
