I started Neurotin and boy did it make me feel crazy. I really felt like I was on some kind of drug trip, anybody ever experiences this?

I had recently started Neurotin and also felt high, or "loopy". Kinda got use to the feeling. Yesterday I just saw a Pain Doc for the first time and he was surprised that the Univ. of MD MS Center gave me Neurontin, and also that I wasn't on even a theraputic dosage (1500 mg/day). He changed me to Lyrica with Cymbalta. I just started so I don't know how it is working, but the Neurontin didn't help much with nerve pain, just feeling high enough maybe not to care? Good Luck.

Let me know how you do on the lyrica. I just took 600mg of neurotin and my doc wantsme to take 1800mg a day! i can't imagine. It seems i'm the odd ball that meds don't work for and i just feel the side effects. I have chronic pain in my legs, whats your pain?

I was on neurotin to help the pin feeling in my feet. It made me feel the same way but did help. I was taking 1800 mg a day and was taking another med that did almost same thing.

hah! same reaction! doc gave it to me for numbness in my legs than again for pins and needle feelings in my feet.. stopped taking it regularly because of the side effects... though i still have a bottle for recreational purposes.. HAHA.!!....... JK :P

so, by feeling "loopy" i really dont' want to take it, BUT I wonder if I stick it out would it help me. I have chronic pain in my legs and NOTHING has helped. Docs seem to push neurotion or lyrica. I'd jsut like to have some relief. Should I keep taking it?

I've been on Neurontin for a couple of years 600 mgs in the morning & again at night if needed.....it helps for the spasticity which in my case is very painful...but my feet are constantly numb & prickly feeling, but I don't get that high feeling :(

I have been on Neurotin for a number of years. I only take 400mg at bedtime to help me sleep. Yes, it does have some strange side effects. That is when I know I have to get to bed. I'm usually asleep within 1 hour of taking it. Hope this helps.

I have been on Neurontin for a month and i hate it!!!! They stared me at 300x 3 a day and I felt like I was sooooo drugged and I was having all these nerve sensations that I didn't have until i started the drug. And it zoned me out so badly!!! plus it felt like it made everything so sensitive. Now I am only taking 100x3 a day and its much better, but...its such a low dose that it may not be doing any good. Dr wants me to try and start increasing my dose...but this drug really scares me. I am glad u brought this up...i have been wondering the same :) hope things get better!!!!

I was on nuerotin 3 X a day and it worked great for my Optic Neuritis but after about 3 months I started have suicidal thought and felt like a totally different person.I did make me very dizzy too. There is a big lawsuit again nuerotin for suicidal tendancys.Just be really careful on it and if you start feeling the way I did let you DR now right away.Good luck!

I am glad you bring this up. My Doc was thinking of Neurotin, but thought I should get the fatigue meds straightened out first. Is Lyrica any better?
