Well, I'm in a flare from Hades, and it just managed to happen when I have a Neuro appt. For the last 4 weeks I've been having light headed spells and then I feel like I'm going to pass out and then my words slur like I'm monker than a drunkie. Sometimes I get a headache after, sometimes I don't. I've also had the bear hug that's caused me.to projectile hurl twice and I'm having pronounced foot drop and problems lifting my leg from my.right hip.
I'm hopeful this visit will be more productive than the last visit and he won't just tell me he's "putting a bandaid on it", but will actually give me suggestions on how I can function.
I guess putting a bandaid on it is the only thing he can do.

I think it is a good idea that you are seeing your neuro while you are in a flare. This way, he/she will be able to first hand see what you are experiencing.

You didn't mention if you have a dx or not, so I don't know what your battle is about going to the neuro.

Good luck, and hope you find some relief from your symptoms.

Thanks. He's calling it transverse meylitis because I don't have lesions in the"traditional" places. It seemed to be in my spine, but with this flare I believe it's in more places than my spine. I'm also being closely monitored for lupus since I.have the rash, the fever and a few other symptoms including a blow wbc. My ana is negative so my rheumy won't dx it, even though 5% can have it and have negative ana just like you can have clinically present symptoms and no visible lesions.

Wow, sorry to hear this. Transverse myelitis is a very difficult thing to recover from. I would do all I could to get over it (including plenty of rest!).

It was a good thing you went when you were down.

I did the same thing last week as I had an appt. w/my doctor and when she saw the shape I was in her advice was, "Go home, take two morphines and go to bed!".

I do not have to go to those 2 mos. of physical therapy. Seems they lied to me and told me I have condition in my ankle that is not what they claimed it was. They were trying to suck me for a lot of bucks is what they were doing and wow did it ever set the pain off in a major way!

According to the doc, I've had a major neurologic episode which is doctor speak for we are going to run tests to find out how bad the damage is. I had trouble tracking his finger when he did the follow my finger test so he is ordering another mri with contrast this time. Evidently my insurance wouldn't cover it last time because my symptoms didn't meet the criteria to approve it. All I have from.last year is in his words a Polaroid snap shot instead of a high def, full resolution picture. Thankfully he's taking me seriously this time.
