Anyone know someone w/MS here in Michigan that could help me with starting a support group?

Our MS Nurse just picked a day and a venue , let as many know as she could and we were off.

I do know support groups are far and few between.

There is a MS Society online support group now called the MS Connection at:

And re starting a MS Support group: you can call your MS Society (800-FIGHT-MS) and see if there is a local support group. If there isn't , you can contact the local MS Society chapter and ask them to help you start a chapter. They will provide you some limited money (to help in renting a location if you need to pay rent) but most of the time you don't have to pay anything. They will list your location and a phone number for contacting and people will come. We started one about 14 years ago and it is still going. So good luck in maybe starting a group.

I noticed there is a recent topic posted about starting a support group on the MS Connection. So good luck.

Also, there is a phone number that the MS Society provides for calling another person with MS for support. It is nationwide so it doesn't matter if you have a local support group or not. I don't have the phone number on me but call the MS Society for that number. Good luck.

There are some support groups here in MI. I'm in Grand Rapids and if I remember right your to far away to come here for them. I'm going to try and make our meeting Sat. If you want I can ask our person who runs the meetings if she has a list of other towns here that have them. I got mine from the MS Center I go to, they did'nt have their own meetings now they do. Let me know if I can help and also look on FB as that was my first lead to ask where I go to find out about them. I hope you find one, I love the one I go to when I can remember when to go.

If you call up the MS Society, you can get on their list and get a free newsletter. The newsletter lists all the local MS support groups in the area and a contact phone number. They should be able to tell you where the closest one is unless there is none and then you can always start one.
