In an earlier post I mentioned that I was frustrated that the technican had not done used the injection of dye so that exacerbations of lesions could be seen. I mentioned this to an RN and now understand 'WHY' the dye is used only when really necessary.
I hadn't realized that the dye is radioactive and extremely hard on the body, especially the stomach, kidneys, and liver. Now that I am aware of this, I am glad that I didn't have the dye. So thought I'd pass on what I was told. I trust nurses more than most doctors; some of them know more than doctors!
Just wanted to pass along what I had learned.
One more thing--Did any of you get a flu shot? I was advised to get one, but to get it midway between injections of Avonex. I finally got one today. It will take two weeks to reach a state of 'full immunity' from the flu. I definitely don't want to get the 'Type A' flu that has hit the country.

I got the flu shot. My first one. My regular Doc. recomended it after I came down with a cold. Then three weeks later I had a slight Ms attack that made it hard for me to walk without my cane ,and then I came down with another cold worse than the first. My daughter and her husband also got one on the same day as I got mine at the same place. They also came down with colds or the flu so bad they had to go to the doctor. We arn't sure we are going to get one next year or not. The place they gave it also got infected!

had no idea that the dye was hard on the body, i have respect for the doctors, but also remember thier like every other profession, they make mistakes. theres good ones and bad ones.

When I was at the urgent care the other night, the dr. recommended I get the flu shot, pnemonia shot and I can't remember what other one. I am not really for the flu shot. My son had one last year and actually came down with the flu. He was on the tamiflu and everything. I think I'll do it next year.
