Most of us have discussed at some point our memory problems associated with MS. My memory problem is now costing me big bucks!
Yesterday morning, before school, I cleaned my glasses. It happened to be the day to put the recycling out so I was picking up newspapers, etc. getting the recycling ready to go out on the curb. I see the clock and realize I'm late for work. I can't find my glasses! While the minutes tick by and I begin to panic, I decide to go to school w/o my glasses.
After school, I look all over the house for my glasses with no luck. I start to think back over the morning and realize that I most likely threw my glasses (along with newspapers) in the recycling bin which was collected early this morning. $385.00 pair of glasses...gone. I am so awful at putting things down and then having no idea/clue what I did with them. This one takes the cake though! No spare pair--used the old frames for the new glasses. Expensive lesson. Anyone else had memory cost them hard-earned dollars? Or do you have a unique memory story?

I can remember, though not the details, that I had never bounced a check in my life, until about 4 yrs ago with my husband's business account, and when I did it, boy did I do it full on! When I made a mistake in the check book, it snowballed, and by the time I got it fixed, it had cost us about $900. in check fees alone. I do know the mistake was something I forgot to write down, and it got WAY out of hand! Thank god for a very thought full and forgiving husband!

Post it notes...although they wouldn't have saved your glasses. I write down everything on a post it note and afix it to my computer. Otherwise I'd forget everything.

Ordered new glasses after school today--$450.00--and they are not anything special. I also have a very understanding husband--I'm much harder on myself than he is!

I paid my phone bill over the phone. A check by phone on a friday, $225. No problem. On monday I look at the bills on the table, see the phone bill, forgot I paid it, did the same thing again. Another $225. On thursday my husband asked if I paid the phone bill, I said I think so, let me check, (I usually write on the bill the confirmation # and the date I pay, this one was clear ) so I said I better do it. I again paid $225. You would think the computer would tell me to knock it off or I would figure out the zero balance would tip me off , but I didnt figure it out until the next month until I got the bank statement with $775 to AT&T and a $320 credit on my phone bill. I had to laugh but it freaked me out.

I keep having to buy tools that I forget I just bought last week or have in my toolboxes. I still think that has more to do with me being a dunderhead though.

By the way, everyone here forgot to send me the $50 Daily Strength MS board fee that we talked about last week. So get in touch with me so I can send you my address.

oh yeah,I can't remember where I put our cell phone. Its been in its hiding place for a month now. I tried calling it but the ringer must be on silent mode. So that cost me the cell phone. Sigh. I know how you feel.I also have bounce checks , and forgot to pay a bill and had internet shut off...oops...
Anyways don't feel alone.

That reminded me....I do the laundry. I have a big note on the wall of the laundry room, " CHECK ALL POCKETS!!!" Well, its just part of the wall now obviously because in the last month I have not only washed, but dried 2 of my husbands cell phones. Now, I contend that it's his fault....who leaves a cell phone in their pants pocket all weekend ( Friday, till Sunday when I washed the first one ) not once, but TWICE????

omg its so getting old I keep making late payments on bills because im sure i have paid them or i put it in a place where i willsee it and it still does nto register or 4 days will go by and I have no idea how as I have been ion that fog. vie gone as far as getting rid of some credit cards to reduce the risk. and i paid extra on my waterbill so that i wont have to worry about it for a while

I'm pretty sure taht my boss came over and gave me all kinds of new flyers to distribute and she gave me $80.00. Now I'm not sure if she really did give me the money or if I drempted it because I had a dream before about how much I was getting paid and, well, that was a dream that I wish came true, lol. Any way I think if it was true I hid the money so my husband would find it becuse I was planning on taking us out to dinner... well guess what, if I hid it, I don't remember where so I have had a scavenger hunt every now and then looking for the "lost $80.00" lol

I put down needed objects in the same place each time (my pills on my coffee table; my purse by a chair near the door; my cell phone in the purse; my glasses by my pillow on my bed; my bills on a shelf by the door). I pay my bills on Sundays and remove the bill from the shelf when the bill is paid. I keep a calendar where I that I injected that day & where. That calendar is always kept on my coffee table. If you live with someone, ask them to respect the designated places for the objects you use.

Good, sensible ideas! Guess what everyone? My husband found my glasses--he said that they were looking right at him underneath a chair (don't know how they got there) that I thought I had looked under.

I love the memory stories!

Well now you will have a back up pair of glasses for the next time. Thanks everyone for their stories. Makes me feel more "normal"! LOL
