I'm on Betaseron, but think all the other CRABS have similar programs. If you go to the drugs web site, there's info on how to contact them to see if you qualify for help in getting your meds.

Be honest with your doc about your financial situation. You won't be the first person with that problem. Many docs have the forms in their office as well. In my docs office, they even offer to help you fill out the forms. I've seen people filling out the forms several times there.

There are many programs to help the uninsured am under insured.
As a bonus the aid is determined by current family income not on saving or assets. For me i too was unemployed, i'm single with no family income but given the bad economy i did have at least 1 year of kiving expenses saved in case i lost my job & i did. state aide like ssi & medicaide go on asssets/savings to a draconian level...but these med programs just use current family income.

with you & your husband being unemployed you probably will qualify for them all and i really suggest you apply.

the hard thing about assistance it is distributed on an availibilty & need basis--so a person never know until they are approved which is tense & what you are living through right now with insurance---it was one of the things i liked about getting on medicare, then i knew what would be covered and by how much when i used med. before i used a PA asnd i was tense every year when i had to re-apply if it would be awarded to me for another year?

Biogen has Avonex,Rebif & Tysabri...right now they are offering the best financial assistance & prices. they are trying to establish a dominance in the ms med market and force the others out by pricing low....i'm sure after they have reduced the competition they will raise their prices a lot..thats the way business is

brand name drugs program's are accesses on the side of the needy med site...last i looked rebif had a program for under insured.

And you can't apply for under insured assistance until you know how under insured you are..bummer. these things go slow.

you can wait to find out what your coverage is then apply for under insured assistance & then start your med. a maintenance med can be delayed long enough to get through this lengthy process.
