UCLA did studies with LDN and MS and the best outcome was with reducing urinary spasms and subsequent incontinence.

The person I know with MS who used LDN had this benefit that became very noticeable after THREE months.

Note you can NOT use LDN if you are on pain meds as it will block the effects of the meds.

Ok my mouse jumped around in the above reply ( so "anti-pain effects" is in an odd place).

LDN can NOT be taken by people on pain meds because LDN blocks anti-pain med effects.

I started taking LDN about 31\2 years ago. I started @ 1.5mg and noticed a remarkable increase in my energy and stamina immediately. I increased my dosage up to 4.5mg within a couple of weeks. The only noticeable side effect was I often woke up from my sleep. I'm sure that was induced by the LDN stimulating my pheromones. I occasionally had very detailed and vivid dreams. Not nightmares, just movie-like dreams.

Currently I am reducing my dosage in an effort to see if I am still benefitting from LDN. My symptoms have changed so much in the last while.

Naltrexone, full dose, is used to treat Opiate and alcohol Addiction. The only medications to avoid taking are those containing Narcotics, as the effects of those medications will be neutralized. I am still able to enjoy a drink or two and LDN doesn't affect that.

I wish that I had known about LDN early on after diagnoses. It doesn't have the same results for everyone, but for quite a few, me included, a very positive change was noticed. LDN is NOT A CURE!!! But, it really helped me manage my symptoms much better.

I am a believer... Once again. For the past couple of weeks I slowly decreased my use of LDN until I stopped taking it. I only lasted a day not taking any. I restarted taking it and after the first day, I was able to muster enough energy to work in our family concession all day yesterday at the local Canada Day Celebrations. It wasn't until last evening at dinner that I realized I managed to. It just reinforced my positive experience. I didn't realize what it does for me until I stopped taking it. Night and day with my energy and stamina.

I will continue with LDN until I need to confirm it's still working for me again.

Thank you for your replies, my husband has had trouble in getting a diagnosis. we are in Australia and it seems that if you don't have a lesion in either your spinal cord or optic nerve you don't have MS here no matter the symptoms or brain lesions. we were hoping we might be able to get the GP to prescribe it in an effort to at least relieve some of the symptoms.

Canucker- I have been curious about this like slbale. Thanks for the input. . . I myself take a small amount of ginseng to battle fatigue.

Canucker -- That is a great analysis you gave. Very interesting. My fatigue level is so low it can't hurt to give this a try. Thanks for your input. I'm going to message my neurologist & see if this is a possibility for me.

LDN is compounded so only certain pharmacy's can make it ie Belmar Pharm in Colorado (cost has went from $35 month to $50). Most docs start at 1.5mg for 2 weeks (1/2 a 3mg pill) then take the whole 3mg pill afterward. My husband has been on it for 4-5 years now and the dosage has only went up to 4.5 mg. He always takes it at night and again is on NO pain meds.

Here is a question. If anyone else is on LDN that is helping them with their urinary spasticity, WHERE are you getting your LDN? How much money is it costing you? I would like to get it for $30-$35 a month.
