I was dx last March. I am working full time and take care of my house with my husband and two teenagers at home. I have not let this slow me down. I know that a company can not discriminate against your disability. I would think that it would be your choice to share your health issues with your new employer. I am not sure what kind of work you do or if any of your symptoms have effected any of your work habits. Good luck on the job hunt!

u-might not ever be- you could be- no one knows-you need to think positive but protect yourself-have long term disability-ins. just in case- and live -your- life!! things do fall in place,dont worry - but dont regect the thought of being disabled- sure hope i didnt confuse u- the long term disability gives u time, just in case-- hugs!!-it takes 2 yr to get disability- so see what i trying to say- yourlong term dis. is lol- im thinking -i think 18 months- u get right off its like 80 percent of what u make- that kept me goin till i qualified for disability- sorry soo long!!!

I work fulltime and am going through the question of when will it be too much to keep going. I suppose the only way to think about it is to take one day at a time.If you think you can manage work then keep working If you are concerned about the 'what ifs' it will drive you crazy because the disease is so unpredicatable. Sometimes working too much can contribute to the fatigue but only you can tell what you can and cant do.I also think that it is important to keep moving and to keep busy. Good luck.

I say go for it. If you think it won't be too much and you can handle everything just do it. As no one knows what is around the corner. I knew I had MS for at least 6 years prior to diagnosis and when diagnosed worked a good 6 years afterwards and now unemployed by my own doing and driving me crazy. You can always stop if it does not suit your lifestyle. As for telling them - if a physical is not needed, my suggestion is don't ask, don't tell. Good luck and remember just about everybody has a chance of something happening to them which will incapacitate them in some way. At least you know what yours will be. Good luck and congrats especially in this economy on finding a position (I have no idea what a PCA is) but good for you.

Hi, before my dx I used to work very hard and thought that is was old age issues, I have heat intolerance and thought that was due to smoking. Once I learned why I was feeling like crap, I learned how to control myself so I don't feel like fainting all the time.
Its a personal desition. Misspelled.

I am actually still in school... Making minimum wage right now wouldn't cover daycare and gas expenses. I have 4 classes left and then I will go back to work. I just can't PCA anymore because of the loss of strength... Auntilyn, a PCA is a personal care attendant. I was taking care of elderly dementia/Alzheimer patients in their home. It required a lot of lifting and transferring and I never want to hurt someone...

Never mind hurting someone but don't hurt yourself. I agree with MrsLori work if you can. Because of the numbness in my fingertips an the lack of ability to stand for 10 to 12 hour shifts, not to mention lifting and bending all the time I had to leave my chosen profession. I would LOVE to go back to work in some capacity as sitting at home only gives you time to "find" more symptoms, read more and become more symptoms and lose what was left of your real life to MS. I say go for it if you can. If not a patient assistant than something else, but you are way too young to give up yet. If not for my 4 moves in 1 year I would def be back in school and at the very least working part time doing something but being transient makes it ever so difficult to find one's place in the world. For me tomorrows are limited but you are just starting out and your tomorrows are endless!!!

I started having sytoms while I was in my late 20's...I take one day at a time .I work in Home Health and want to get my retirement money up .Some days I really dont think I will make it but 32 years later I am still working not as fast or as hard as I use to .I sometimes cry as I drive inbetween patients.....I will probly go out of work in the next couple of years....I Have MS,Sjogrens,COPD,vasculitis ( 6 stents ) Sleep Apnea,Hypothyroidism,Seizues,OCD,So take one day at a time and dont hurt youself know your limitation.My job does help me keep going.....

I am a RN. I work in a hospital, 3 12 hour shifts a week. I work 7am to 7pm and I don't work more than 2 days in a row. You can do it !

I was diagnosed in 2007 and I work full time, take care of my home, shuttle my son around ect.. I am also in school full time. I have found that it helps with my cognition. You can do it. You can't live in fear of what may happen. That is like someone being afraid to drive after witnessing an accident b/c it MIGHT happen to them one day. You have to take each day as it comes. I was recently off for almost 3 months due to an exasperation. But, I still came back to work.
