MAIN MS Drugs
C.R.A.B. drugs + Tysabri aka natalizumab is the most expensive MS drug at $32,000 for infusions each year
Copaxone, Rebif, Avonex, Beta blockers
Azathioprine immunosuppressive treatment, alternative to interferon beta for treating MS also because it is less expensive.

Gilenya - new MS oral medication

Chemo drugs: Novantrone (mitoxantrone) IV every 3 months and is FDA approved but requires EKG of heart.
Plus meds they are looking at in research for oral Imuran (azathioprine), Leustatin (cladribine), and Cytoxan (cyclophosphamide) once a month with tests taken beforehand (ie EKG).

Rituximab (Rituxan) ADD-ON therapy being looked at to reduces B cells however there is a risk of death from PML (progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy).
B cells and the humoral immune system have been implicated in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS). This study sought to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of add-on therapy with rituximab, a monoclonal antibody that depletes circulating B cells, in subjects with relapsing MS with breakthrough disease defined by clinical and MRI activity (Class III evidence).

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) low cost oral med that works on dopamine and other chemicals in the body that affect GI and brain. Reduces depression and increases quality of life in 2 pieces of research. Some have reported decrease in bowel/urinary issues, swallowing issues and speech issues but this is not in the research. Vivid dreams only main side effect. NOTE those on pain meds should not take as it with block anti-pain medication effects.

So make sure you are getting enough fats (Omega 3= Flaxseed (ALA) / fishoil (EPA/DHA), Omega 6(LA)=Primerose or Borage oil (GLA) and omega 9= olive oil (oleic acid). Plenty of B vitamins in many things like liver, nuts. You need Sodium, potassium and calcium and other minerals like magnesium and zinc to function well. I get Life Extension Multivitamins without Iron or copper but research what you think is best after getting tested by a doctor to find out what you tested out to be in the bottom 1/3 of the population and bring your numbers up to more healthy or optimum numbers.
