Well, first id like to spread good wishes to everyone, I hope everyone here is doing well, I'm not officially diagnosed, but the eye doctor pretty much told me I have MS and need to see my neurologist and an eye specialist immediately. I have had many autoimmune type symptoms for years, I have peripheral neuropathy, migraines, changes in T2 white matter lesions in brain (always suspicious of MS but nothing definite), neurologist seemed to blame lesions on migraines and MCTD leaning towards lupus. Now I have been diagnosed with Optic neuritis, or Optic atrophy, which has very few causes, one of them is MS. I'm feel very afraid and alone and I feel as if none of my family or "friends" believe me(or care).. It seems as if I do have MS..I'm not crazy right!?

I also would rather not get the lumbar puncture if possible, I have back issues and I've had 2 epidurals already..thanks!

Finding a neuro who doesn't love LPs is difficult but hold out - especially if the mri comes back with positive implications.

My niece recently suspected she had MS but her mri showed she had a pseudo tumour in her brain and this is treated with fluid tablets and is not life threatening.

My neuro diagnosed me with MS without the LP. I had a bout with Optic neuritis, peripheral neuropathy, pain, MS hug sensation, excessive numbing and tingling and spinal seizures. MRI showed 26 brain lesions and a really big lesion on my spinal cord at C2. That was enough for him. Started treatment on a DM drug immediately. That was six years ago.

My symptoms were very similar to yours, but it was not until I awoke one morning numb pretty much from the neck down, and extremely numb in my hands that I was finally given an MRI and diagnosed with MS. Took almost 3 years for all this to happen.

Since most MS symptoms are invisible, it is common for family and friends to disbelieve or struggle with being supportive. Unfortunately, when I was finally diagnosed, my spouse chose to divorce me rather than support me. Most of the others in my life chose to be supportive and help me after diagnosis. I am truly thankful to them.

This support group was a big help to me after being diagnosed. I learned a lot and felt like everyone here truly cared.

You are not crazy and what you are feeling and experiencing is consistent with my experience with MS.

Hi, I was diagnosed without a lumbar puncture. My symptoms and Mri pointed to ms. My doctor ordered a vep test and that confirmed the ms diagnosis. I have a supportive family but I still feel alone sometimes. I know it's hard for anyone to know how bad we feel, because we look fine. Hang in there, there is a lot of good info here, you are not alone.

my diagnosis came after an MRI, pretty easy test. No lp for me.
