I'm not sure if I'm experiencing a flare/exacerbation. I thought one or more of you might be able to assist me with an answer. Here's what has been happening (and gets worse by the day) for the past few days: pain all over my body--feels like my joints, muscles, even bones, have had a huge workout (none that I can think of). Body aches and parts of body are very sore upon movement.
Balance issues started today off and on. Did not fall, but teetered a bit a few times.
Incredible fatigue.
Memory has actually been quite good. Surprising!
Ibuprofen isn't taking away the pain--this usually works quite well for me. Is taking the edge off, but still have pain.
Difficulty getting up from a kneeling (church) or sitting position. Difficult to get out of bed. Weakness in legs from knees on down. The thought that I may be losing mobility crossed my mind today and scared me.
This is primarily it. I have experienced illness (flu, sinus, colds, bronchitis, etc.) nearly every week since last September. Stress is high right now. Quit Avonex for a few weeks and just took LDN. Started on Avonex again tonight as I am scared that the MS is getting worse and the Avonex has been successful when I've taken it.
I really need to hear from any of you who have experienced an exacerbation--please help me figure out what is going on.
Thanks! One more thing...so many of you experience pain with MS. What kind of pain do you get? I know each of us is different, but perhaps there is a commonality present.

I'm not sure, I've just gone through the whole fear of loosing mobility w/my leg. It is scary, hang in there, call your doctor. I did the solumedrol and my leg feels much better. Good luck. -Erin

As an MS Support Group Leader in Oregon, I speak of MS as a snowflake disease---no two snowflakes are alike, and no two MS'ers are alike. iT SOUNDS LIKE AN EXACERBATION, BUT YOU NEED TO ALWAYS CALL YOUR NEUROLOGIST TO LET THEM KNOW YOUR SYMPTOMS. GET PLENTY OF SLEEP AND REST, TAKE YOUR VITAMINS AND A GOOD FISH OIL SUPPLEMENT, AND CALL YOUR NEUROLOGIST MONDAY MORNING, if you aRE CONCERNED ABOUT WHETHER IT IS AN EXACERBATION.

hmm...well all i can say is i had dizziness for a whole week...i tried everything even meclizine...it didn't help and it kept getting worse and worse...i had enough when i started puking because the dizziness made me nauseous...When i went to the bathroom i got trapped in the sink (lol i fell and my head went in the sink...i was so dizzy my head felt heavy so i couldn't pull it out) The next morning i went to the ER...they gave me ativan but nope...no help. then finally solu medrol with a course of oral prednisone for the next 2 weeks thank god it cleared it right up!

I appreciate your responses! This is such a tricky disease...what is a flare-up and what is 'normal' MS! And we are all different in the way we respond and what we experience. Fortunately, today, though very, very tired, I have very little of yesterday's symptoms. Who knows what is going on!

It's really hard to differentiate between a new problem and a flare up. Talk to your nuero for sure.
