i`ve had type 1 for 37 years and ms for 9. i don`t notice any difference from a high bs. low bs on the other hand are the opposite. every ms symptom i have is multiplied ten fold at least.

My second relapse I was hospitalized and IV steroids were begun at once. My blood sugar was 124 upon entry. An hour later it was 700. I have since learned that the machine could only read as high as 700 so who knows how high it really was !

My A1C was 15 ! It is one of those chicken or the egg questions. I was diagnosed Type 2 diabetes. For the next eight months I religiously followed the diabetic diet. Ever since then I still eat quite healithily. I lost about 35 pounds. Got my A1C down to 5.2.

It took about three years, but my official diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes was recinded !!! My last three annual A1C tests have all been about 5.2.

I suppose diabetes was incipient, but it was the steroids that caused it to go beserk. To answer one of the questions directly, I never experienced any symptoms when my blood sugar was high. A couple of times though it did fall quite low. An emergency granola bar brought it back up almost instantly.

Oh, one last thing. I only ever had one insulin shot. That was the night of my second relapse. Lucky me, the nurse mistakenly gave me a double dosage ! That was NOT fun ! In fact, it was extremely awful - I am being very polite with that description ! It was horrible.
