HI ALL , Hope All is well !

so I got some results today and still yep I'm cofussed !

So I tested Positive for the Epstein - Barr Virus I did look it up on here but want to read up more on what ties it has to Auto - Immune ??? Anyone ?

My short verse of the MRI ; I'm looking to see what you guys might think !
& Want to say my Doc says yes Angie something is going on and from here I want you to make the Appt. do what you have to to get in and see a Neuro and Rhumy ! UGH ... I've known this buttt.... It's 100 miles away I'm just gonna have to make this trip !

Altho I was freakin myself out I did get a 40 mg shot in the tail of Solu-medrol and I'm waiting to feel good , nothing yet ! That was 11 am ( SHOT ) ....

MRI ; FINDINGS ; ~

Areas of signal abnormality noted in the periventricular white matter and subcortical white matter on flair weighteed sequences. While these are non-specific,the possibility of demyelinating process cannot be excluded.
There is preservation of normal signal flow voids in the major intracranial vascular structures.Mild paranasal sinus inflammatory changes are noted with mucosal thickening.

IMPRESSION :

Areas of signal abnormality on flair weighted sequences in the periventricular white matter and subcortical white matter.While white nonspecific ,the possibility of demyelinating process cannot be excluded.No large plaques are seen.There is no evidence for involement of the corpus callosumitself.No evidence for involvement of the cerebellar peduncles.

SO I just want or need your input with what you have noted on some of these same test .. any info would be helpful,your opions are always greatly appreciated no matter what !

I always turn to you all cause you live it,breath it , unlike the Docs that we all know sometimes GUESS it !

I know no matter what I find out here I'm now searching for a Neuro and Rhumy to confirm any findings ... I was hoping for more confirmed answers Good or Bad To get to the bottom of this and Buttt it ... I guess it was a bit wishful and know that this is a long process and takes time ,sometimes longer then we would like ... I just have to keep fighting !

So today I was confirmed CFS,Epstein-Barr , ^& 40 mg's of Solu-Medrol !

We once had a thread of people that came in and advised if they had mono or not. It was a mixed bag. There is a lot of on-going and completed studies done on the connection between the EB virus and MS. Evidence points to a connection between the two is affirmative. I don't remember the technical specifics of the studies I've read, but researchers are seeing a connection. Read up on it.

MRI results: Areas of signal abnormality noted in the periventricular white matter and subcortical white matter on flair weighteed sequences. This just says on different views of the MRI sequencing, abnormalities were noted in the white matter of your brain.

There is preservation of normal signal flow voids in the major intracranial vascular structures.Mild paranasal sinus inflammatory changes are noted with mucosal thickening. I'm not sure what the first sentence means, but the last sentence is referring to your sinus'.

Sometimes it takes weeks for results to be felt from steroid treatment, everyone is different. Please be patient and try not to stress over it's workings. It will work! Just when no one can say.

You need to make that appt. with a neuro to get final results. Be sure to take him a list of all your symptoms, and how long they lasted. Be sure that you provide evidence of inflammation in time and space, one month apart lasting more than 24 hours. Again, stress will do nothing but aggravate MS symptoms, so try to relax until you can get that appointment with a neuro, preferably a neuro that specializes in MS. Good luck.

hmm...I am not a doctor or neuro radiologist so my answer may have a value=0. so here is what I think

it seems you have lesions in white matter. however they are not positive these are caused my MS. They are not 100% sure if the lesions represent demyelination. There are areas that look like demyelination that show disruption of normal signal flows (neurons firing or talking to eash other)They do see mild inflamation around sinuses.
I am not knowledgeable yet on epstein barr to give any kind of answer. I do not know your history of attacks but it seems they have not diagnosd you with MS yet. You may have to get LP. If a person has these oligo bands there are only a few other diseases that hac produce those in LP.
Another way is VEP/VER test (old way of testing)
Yet, more can be uncovered by clinical symtpms of acute or chronic atttacks. So if a person has a history of optic neuritis and parhaps so other symtpom (doctos like to see at least a history of two attacks) the diagnosis is more possible.
But please understand I am not a helthcare professional and have not been trained to read MRI

Ichoppel My mission this coming week is to find a Neuro One who has MS pt would be of help or at least knowledge would be nice !

Patients it will have to be,although waiting is one of my weak points lol... I will be looking up and getting more info on the mono/MS to see what I can find on it !

Bijoux2 ~ No I have not yet been DX'ed with MS , I have been having the same sx minus a few plus a few more and yet mirror the other 80 % of most of us on here.

I have been in this symptom patern thing where for 2 to 4 months feel ok but not all goes away for a few days maybe up to 2 mths just to go back into what I call a( flair) ~ meaning speach can be affected,balance,lots of pain,spasms,fatigue and spasticity is 2 of my biggest problems, heavyness in all four limbs twitches, memory,shocking feeling all over charlie horse feeling leftt calf,carple tunnel feeling right wrist,numbness,tingling,pins and needles, and many more odd and crazy feeling that can last for mins. to hours or even months... most of all of these things have indeed lasted well over 24 hours and in the past 4 yrs things have only gotten more intense lasting longer and more painful..

I been this way for 4 on going years now but it all started 10 yrs ago ... so for the last 4 I've been fighting with and trying to get to the bottom of all of this ... I have only been dx'ed with BIH or a Pseudotumor and do have a LP Shunt dx was 4/6/2010 ~ shunt was put in 9/22/2010 ..

I do try my best to stay away from stress and it can be hard when my BIH sx come on full speed causing a migraine and intense pain of course throwing the whole body off !
Bijoux2 you saiid ( VEP/VER test (old way of testing ) I'm not sure what that is can I get more info on that please !

Hi Angie. Lesions in the peri-ventricular white matter got me dx with MS. But I also had positive LP, Positive VEP (Visual evoked potentia)l-tests where nerve transition time from signal to travel to optic nerve is measured. You are wired up. sit in front of a b/w tv looking at a checkerboard pattern. There also is an auditory evoked potential testing the 8th cranial nerve which controls balance.

Since you have other issues be sure you get an MS specialist to look into further testing,

PS I had mono at age 19. Hospitalized-it was severe. I tested positive for ebv as a result. I requested to be tested. It is definatively linked with chronic fatigue and suggested as a link with MS unfortunately.

One of my best friends is an RN and she has Epstein-Barr.She has been in remission for years.She works a crazy shift at hospital.I hope this helps.Keep us posted.I do not know where you live ,but my Huntigton,WVa neurologist is sending me to Cleveland next week for a 2nd opinion from neur there.

Did your MD refer you to a neuro yet and be sure to write on paper and take with you the whole list of symptoms you described in your post.Let us know how it works out.I am still in limbo land.Cleveland neuro said no to MS.But I had a heck of a flare up of symptoms last wkend lasted last SAT night to Tues nite and had alot of new symptoms w alot of pain in the tingles and spasm and twinges!!!
