I did three days of Solumedrol in January with the Prednisone taper down and then again in April. I believe both of these caused my major stomach problems I'm having now. I went to get allergy tested and my tongue was white. The doctor said it was yeast and after the test, we found out my yeast levels were off the charts and I started high doses of meds to eliminate the yeast from my body. I believe steroids, disrupt everthing in our bodies. My test also revealed that I'm highly allergic to eggs and cows milk... mild tomoato, potato, wheat allergies... I swear I think the Copaxone treatment disrupted my immune system and caused the allergies (of course the drug comapny and doctors deny this) Really? I'm 33 years old and never had allergies til 6 months after beginning treatment... and the yeast and stomach problems only began after steroids.... what did they give you for the thrush??

This isvery interesting. my stomach is a mess too. I was told about 8 months ago I had acid reflux and was put on some med, don't remember the name, something like pepcid . since the recent steroid treatment I've had daily nausea, headaches and just plain sickk feeling tummy . my family doctor says steroids are bad for those with acid reflux , and that it aggravates it. and like you , it seems I began getting sick when I started.back on copaxone after being off of it fir over three years. I have a mouth wash for the thrush to take for ten days.

I have heard of that from others but I have taken at least have a dozen rounds of 7-14 day 1000mg solumedrol and also have been taking monthly 1000 mg solumedrol infusions for years and have never had this. Of course, today is my infusion day so I'll ask my nurse when she comes the risk factors for this.

Hi, sorry you are both suffering from this. One thing that works really well for us is Oregano Oil, a couple of drops on tap water, twice a day. Also found under the name Carbacrol, maybe misspelled that, and found in vitamins stores.

I had a problem with oral thrush and nausea from steroids. I was given a nystatin moutwash to deal with it. I used phenergan for the nausea.

I take high quality probiotics to avoid developing a systemic yeast infection. Very important for general health. And especially important if you take anti-biotics or steroids. They kill of all the healthy bacteria in your bowel.

Dr William Crook is a pioneer. I followed his advice in the 80's til today.

Nystatin kills yeast. Just be sure you get rid of it. Those of us with MS don't need anymore problems.
