Anybody have issues with hoarseness?
Very recently I find that if I raise my voice (even slightly) for a few minutes, after a while I lose my voice almost completely, and it becomes difficult to breathe. I work in a school where I hand back papers by calling out names. I've always had a tiny voice that's hard for people to hear, but the last two times it was so bad that I felt like I was having an asthma attack! I told my regular doctor who ordered an ultrasound of my thyroid, which the tech hinted was normal (I'll find out next week).
His other idea was the MS, but honestly my MS is pretty light compared to most (knocking on wood). Could I really be losing my voice? My lesions are in my T-spine. At least with thyroid there's surgery or meds to hope for. If it's MS, I'm afraid it's just going to continue to get worse.
I also notice that I have to eat more slowly because I sometimes can't get the swallowing/breathing just right. Not sure if that makes sense.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

If not...I would call them and ask if your symptoms make sense with your diagnosis and scans..
Do you smoke? I do...just asking...if so,,,,as we know smoking can cause all kinds of other problems.
Also, Dr. Brownstein has some videos on youtube about thyroid issues. Many of us are low in iodine.

Dr. Wahls book mentions foods the affect thyroid function (The Wahls Protocol). Kale can improve thyroid function.
Hope your doctor can help you figure out what this is all about. the thyroid tests they order are typically only TSH and don't show T3, T4 and reverse T3. I see a naturopath MD who was the one who ordered the proper tests to find out that I have hypothyroidism currently.
Do you normally have any other "spastic" issues? For me muscle spasms are always a problem for which I take Methocarbamol for...it might be worth looking into trying out a muscle relaxer to see if that helps.
It definitely happens with MS...

Plenty of physicians/specialists report on the benefits of magnesium for the body's systems.

Lorrie, I just had my thyroid checked, and it's normal. But I don't know if my doctor looked as closely as you mention.
Misssy2, I don't smoke. I have only 2 lesions and they're both in my t-spine. That's why I"m always surprised that my symptoms are connected to my MS - only 2 lesions! I feel like I shouldn't have any symptoms at all. Anyway, I'm due for a new scan soon.
Katerina, I'm not sure if this is spasticity, but if it is caused by the MS, it feels more like weakening than spasms.
