I don't know what is happening to me. I startle so easily--for the past two days. It has gotten so bad that when my husband yelled my name to get my attention, it scared me to the point of hysteria followed by tears and a deep sadness. That was about 30 mns. ago. I feel better now, but terribly exhausted, as though I've been through some big emotional ordeal. I've experienced being startled before, but never to this extent and never before MS. Is this MS? side effect of Avonex? Neither? I don't know what to do. I hope someone has some answers!

Whoa...wait a minute. What could this be? I might start taking Avonex and I need to know. Why does she need to call someone right away?

I took Avonex and did not have that prob.
I would definitely call doc/shared solutions and find out. How awful for you.

Thanks to each of you. Today is much better, thank goodness. I don't think it was the Avonex...think that maybe the stress of some issues is finally really affecting me and making my nerves 'raw'.

Of course I can't diagnose you, but I think you are right. Startling at sounds is a sign that you are under great stress and having difficulty relaxing. Being diagnosed with MS and all that goes with it can be terribly stressful. Let yourself do something very relaxing to you. You need it and deserve it!

Personally, I would ALWAYS consult my Nurse or Doc when things go awry....I mean, it's only my life right?

Or do I just take suggestions from folks with the disease who are NOT licensed Physicians? Your call babe.
