Anyone else go out with friends, and in the middle of having a great time, having someone corner you, forcing you to talk about person shit (ie: having MS), inevitably putting a sour twist to the evening?
Why? Why ruin my evening?
Otherwise, things have been going really well, PT with a great physical therapist, just got my disability recognised by the government here (which includes lots of nice benefits!), will hopefully be getting a cool scooter to help with my mobility and reduce my hermit-like lack of activity. . .

I am sorry that this happened to you. Someone wrote into "Dear Abby" once about how to deal with questions you don't want to answer.
Asker "How is the MS doing?"
Response, "I am fine, why do you ask?"

When they have to answer, often they are the ones caught silent.

So sorry that u had to endure this. I went out with a group of friends from college last night. 2 I hadn't seen since being dx. I was so nervous most of the day that someone would say something about me having MS. I lucked out. Nothing was mentioned. I really like the response jetliner gave to say. To the point, but still kind.

Did you forewarn them? I find that telling someone I haven't seen for awhile about it before, they don't bug me when I see them. For me it's my mobility issues are what's noticeable, otherwise I'm the same old me!

Ahhh yes and what is worse my mother and stepfather do it every single time I see them. I'm fine and really have no need to be reminded I have MS. Even at my worse with dodgy legs and tiredness I want to talk about positive things not be reminded about the sword of Damacles hanging over my head.

Anne ... I didn't forewarn them. The 2 that I have not seen lately knew. We communicate thru social media. My issue of having MS is kind of a mute point. They know that I have it, but it doesn't need to be a focal point to talk about.

I suppose it has never bothered me because the type of most of my employment has been with defense contractors; hence, I am not going to say anything about it and federal law keeps me quiet.

So that has always kept my mouth shut.
