Government employment and MS

Is anyone out there a federal government worker and dealing with ms? have you had any experience in treatments/work related issues/leave issues to share? you can also write me at thehoppel4atmsn.com

I worked for the local parish government. Same insurance, same rules on leave, ect. I am now retired on disability. I had a great boss who helped me make it thru all the changes necessary. I was in Purchasing. A lot of phone work, vendors came to see me & typing one handed was taken care of by a free program already on microsoft. Do you have disability insurance?

Had generous vacation & sick leave time so had no need to use family medical leave. But there were several people in my office that did.

I am a retired federal employee. I worked for DoD for 30+ years. During the last 7 years I had to deal with work and MS issues. My supervisors had no idea how to deal with these issues and basically let me set the rules. Be sure to file a form SF256 with your HR office. Sick leave can come in handy if/when you have a relapse (depending on the severity). That is where the SF256 comes in handy because then you can "justify" the time off if your supervisor needs this. Otherwise, working for the federal government and dealing with MS issues is probably easier than working for most private companies and dealing with MS issues.

I think it is very important to specify country. Past post did not and both Canadians and Americans answered with very different answers, it was confusing. In some cases laws were specified, I had a hell of a time tracking the posts until I understood that CA had a different supreme court system but the did have laws from it.

someone suggested I specify my country in regard to this post. I am a US federal government civil "servant". Sorry, I'm only interested in USA employment. thanks for the help!

Hi. sounds like your in another country. someone mentioned to me I should have specified I'm in the US.

Funny, we have some things in common. I too am in contracting for NASA our space agency. I am working at home, since March, and I'm told I'll be reevaluated in 3 months to go back. My legs are what are not functioning for me. I work from home and my boss is great. I opened up to my boss thinking she can help me so I just wonder if I made a mistake in disclosure.
