I've been looking up a few things to see What keeps or if it's poss that MS 'ers could suffer from Nausea and Vomiting ....I'm only going through testing but have thought that I suffer from MS & praying not anywho !!!
I also have read that yes indeed more then just a few ppl w/ MS DO
suffer from Nausea as a result of MS w/ no other answers !

This was from someones post that I found and finding it of interest thought I would post it , it makes sense !

( : Since MS is a disease of the central nervous system, and since the muscles are affected by the nerves no longer "talking" to the muscles, can the diaphragm, which is a muscle, be affected by MS? The vomiting center is located in the brain, and the stomach is relatively unimportant in the act of vomiting. The brain is in charge, and muscles adjacent to the stomach do the work. With that in mind, can MS be responsible for causing recurrent vomiting? I have major issues with this and need some answers. My neurologist is of no help! )

So my guess is that YES IT could be yet another ugly sx of MS !

I don't get it. My Neuro told me at my first appointment, " there are over 3 trillion nerves in our bodies, and much we do not know"..yet when we ask questions like these..they are so quick ( some) to give us the " oh MS can't possibly be causing this" answer. =\

Ms can do some strange things to our bodies. I have not suffered from that. Hopefully I will not. Good luck on your tests and hopefully it will be fine.

Hello Mommies4,

I have this off and on but the worst thing is when I had a major attach and went into convulsions it damaged my nerve that goes to the stomach that tells you when your hungry and full. So now I have to watch or I don't eat for days! Almost everyday I forget to eat lunch but usually always eat dinner because I have a hubby to feed....but there have been time I just could not eat and if I did....it came right back up. Hope that helped...and good luck.

I found out the strange sensations and pressure in my head was a type of headache. Sometimes I feel just pressure (like when your ears are clogged) and it seems my head will explode.. it's a different kind of pain than a regular headache. It's brought on by loud noises, lights, and trying to concentrate. Also, it can feel like a stack of books sitting on my head or a tight band around my head like it's in a vice...

In earlier years in 1993 and 1994 dx with gastroparesis. It is nausea and vomiting. I was put in hospital 4 times in 2 years from it. I also lost over 20-30 lbs each attack which put me way under weight & dehydration. It has to do with vagus nerve 10th cranial. I read other posts on here those dx with MS that was dx with gastroparesis as a MS symptom, a nasty uncommon one. My last attack was in 2002 and hopefully it stays that way.

Your diaphram causes your body to function in so many ways. it is called a "sniff" test. I had the test, it showed my diaphram muscles had weakened,( due to ms) these are usually people that die from pneumonia) this goes along with your lungs, which goes along with blood flow, so on and so on. I am on o2. A really good way is to get an oxy meter... measure your o2 level while sitting, then measure while walking. My would drop drastically walking 15 or 20 steps. They like to keep a range of 96 to 98. mine was dropping to low 70's with just a few short steps. At night mine drops in 70's when asleep so I wear it all night, am so grateful I don't wake up gasping.

how could i have -they said 100 per cent o2-- when not much blood flow- in my head?? wonder if i really had 100 per-cent now

I do not suffer from nausea from MS. The only time I get nausea is from taking Provigil and drinking coffee together. Provigil will bother my stomach so I take it on a full stomach and limit the amount of coffee I drink. I also cut it with half decaffeinate coffee. But anyway, I don't suffer from nausea from MS itself, just stuff I put in my body (too many vitamins and pills plus coffee don't make for a good stomach).

I sympathize with you. That must be hard to deal with.

If your neuro is of no help, time to look around and interview others. I ask others in the MS self help group about what their experience is with their neurologist. Also, the MS Society has a list of MS specialist neurologists. That helped me find mine and I love my neuro!!! He makes mistakes rarely but most of the time, he saves my ass!!
