My boyfriend's dad was just diagnosed with ALS a week ago or so and I have just started having a relapse. Luckily, it's just really bad fatigue, weakness, and numbness and tingling, so I've been able to kind of keep it hidden.

They caught the ALS super early, so he's totally fine right now and I just dont want to even bring up my flare up because I feel like everyone is stressed out right now and I would probably be seen as being dramatic? I mean, I'm still walking around and it's not like anyone can see that my left arm is numb.

I've had a nasty respiratory illness for the last 2 months, so that's what my ms problems are from, like it's not a mystery.

I feel so crappy and tired right now but I want to not cause any more worry but my fatigue and weakness are so bad that i'm not going to be able to hide it if I try.

I have no idea how to handle this, because I need to take care of myself but I also need to keep in mind the new situation.

Stressing will not help your boyfriend's dad only make your symptoms worse and he might worry about you. However, researching what might help might empower you and possibly help you.

So sorry about the ALS dx from what I have read and learned the Glutamate receptors do not work correctly. Then the excitatory amino acid glutamate builds up in the brain. Glutamate increases and excites neurons until they die.
Not eating glutamate ie MSGs would be a good idea.

Glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) is what is needed to break Glutamate into GABA inhibitor. If you can find ways to increase this in the brain this also might help.

Thanks for the info - i'll pass it on, they have always been big on eating processed foods so i do know that he has consumed plenty of MSG in the past!
