I always park in the same spot at my university with my handicap pass. Yesterday, my handicap pass fell to by the passenger's side and I ended up with 2 tickets, one $250 for parking in a handicap spot, and a $75 for parking in a restricted area.

I went and talked to parking services, and they're in the process of being removed but my account is still showing both tickets, and it's extremely stressful. Obviously, I won't have to pay them, but I still have worry that somehow something will be forgotten and I'll have to keep petitioning.

I've had a stressful week besides that. Hours are getting cut at my part-time job and I have an unpaid internship, so I can't really get another job, and having money hanging over my head that i technically "owe" right now is just unbelievably stressful.

On another note, I'm quitting Aubagio and re-starting copaxone at 40mg, which has also been a stressful process, which is resolved. I was waiting on paperwork since jan.10th, I'm also having a minor relapse, I'm not taking prednisone as of yet, and I'm really hoping the stress won't make it worse, I'm trying to remain calm but I'm kind of a basket case since it's just been one thing after another.

So sorry your stress level is skyrocketing right now! Stress is a killer! I don't know what to tell you but I care! Hope things smooth out soon!

Finances can be difficult they will work out. It is good to know the fine for illegal parking is stiff that irks me when healthy people use those spots. Hope tickets get settled quickly and your stress level goes down soon.

I'm sending positive vibes your way, that the tickets get sorted out! (It is good they reinforce illegal paring in handicapped zones...where I live, it's shocking how people abuse specially designated areas.)

i totally understand the need to ticket people parked in handicap, i kind of wish they made parking passes for students with some kind of handicap identifier because I only use the handicap spot when I need it, so it's not really something that's habitual. I'm sure other students who use their passes like I do run into the problem at least once where it either falls or they forget. I may look into getting a handicap license plate to eliminate the problem.

that is a good idea, to get the license plate so you won't have the worry of that : ) I can imagine the stress that brought you to get the tickets, it is hard to come back down when it gets high like that.

you deserve to park in the handicapped parking and shouldn't worry about using it when you need to. it is also to help you not get overly stressed, we have to remember to use as many tools to help us as we can and not be ashamed of doing that.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. The last thing an MS person needs is more stress. If I park in a handicapped spot I usually just throw the placard on the spot above the radio but after reading this I'll hang it on my mirror like you r supposed to

I have forgotten to put my placard on a few times and was worried about it. Luckily, I didn't get a ticket. But I really sympathize with you. I hope that they understand your situation and wipe those tickets off your record soon.

Sorry that you are stressed out. I know the problem. I am in the middle of moving and fighting a health clinic about a problem. Not money but other issues.

If you get the license plates, then you don't need to worry about it.
