swimming is good if you want to not raise your body temp too much too!
Use to LOVE Pilates
And I love a member here who writes 'does running late count as exercise?"
But...I love water aerobics and walking...even though 'favourite' and exercise' to me don't belong in the same sentence!!!
Keeping moving is a daily challenge, but I know how beneficial it is and I know I would really miss the opportunity if I'm ever unable to do either of the things I 'love'
When I was using a walker I would try to go outside for a walk. But I found it hard to gauge how far to go. Some days were better and I could walk further. But if I suddenly felt tired I still had to make it home.
When you use the Pilates table you are either sitting down or laying down. When my legs were starting to get weaker when I was walking I would fall. But when using the Pilates table at worse my legs felt down. I did not hurt myself. This gave me confidence to exercise longer knowing that I was already at home and I could not fall.
This machine you can get a stand for so it's not on the ground. You can be a beginner or you can be an expert. The machine is good for everyone. The one I have at home my husband uses is much more advanced than I am.
I also got the pillow for the machine because of my neck pain. It really made it comfortable.
Hope this helps
Right now my favorite exercises are leg lifts using ankle weights. One of my goals is to eventually get up to 5lbs on each leg- I am currently at 3lbs.
My 2nd goal is to get a lot more endurance with walking. I do laps thru my house-I have a combo dislike of investing in an exercise machine but I also don't have space in my house.
Have you done any work w/a physical therapist? They can really get you on the right path to exercises that will help you w/specific issues like balance & how to stay safe & not over do it.
I got a DVD when I was first diagnosed with MS. It was free. I forgot where I got it. Anyway, it has exercises that you can do either standing or in a chair. It is designed for people with MS.
I also like to play the wii. Most games on there are active. You have to move around a lot. I also have a Zumba DVD. I cannot do it but sometimes I try my best. (I do not let anyone watch me doing Zumba because I look crazy doing it. LOL. Yoga is also good.
Good luck with exercising! Have fun!
Good luck finding something you LIKE.
So you you have the room for it (it really doesn't date a lot of room) I would go with the bike. There are many of other good suggestions here, but they don't have the advantage of a recumbent exercise bike done in the privacy of ones home.
