I drink all of the time on Betaseron (sounds like I'm a drunk... but really I'm 23 and I only drink one or two nights a week...). I've never been told that you can't drink while taking this medication.

Be wary of beer though... stay close to the bathroom if you're going to drink it!

I hate beer was just concerned about my wine. LOL

ok im gonna sound like a lush but just last night me and my girls had strawberry daccharys and tonight pina colattasa and girls drink free at charlies so im having fun while my ms lets me . so i say enjoy while u can but no ur limits and watch ur meds (im not taking any ms meds right ) sorry )

good question... I would like an answer to that too....
I drank here and there during my chemo and it did not go hand in hand. I would have blackouts all the time..
I'm going to be starting copaxone very soon and have read the literature over and over and it didnt say anything about alcohol use...
Even if its one drink here and there.....I hope there are more replies to this post ...

You can drink on all of the MS DMD's. It's the symptom management drugs that you can't always drink with.

Of course moderation is key as the DMD's can cause problems with liver function.

OMG I never thought to ask but too late now - been on the drugs for 8 years and I'm still here! Need my glass of wine with dinner and the "occasional" Long Island Iced Tea! So I say go for it.

I'm not on ms drugs and wine and hard alcohol have a negative effect on my Ritalin...well if I have more than a glass or two of wine that is. Beer seems to be ok tho. Heck, the wine and beer are the only things that keep my HDL in check.

I like to have a few beers during the week and wine w/ supper. My doc MS neuro knows all about this and just tells me to be careful and not to have to many. LOL!!

I have been old not to drink. I am on Avonex (weekly injection).

Be careful drinking can affect your liver..it's enough we take medications thatcan damage the liver.

I gave up the alochol cause my health is more important.

Ultimately it's up to you.

I'm on Betaferon. I don't drink excessively but may have a couple of glasses one night a week. There have been two occasions in the last 6 months where I've had more than a couple and my reaction to the drink has been more extreme than I would have usually expected - wild mood swings and excessive hangover. I'm not naive, if you drink you expect the consequences, but I also know what's a normal reaction to alcohol for my body. Still having a headache 3 days later was way out of order for me.

Everyone is different and, ultimately, there is nothing to say it's definitely the medication, but nothing else had changed for me in that time, so that's my assumption. I'm happy to have a moderate few, but I don't drink to excess any more.

Oddly enough I stopped drinking when I was dx. However, as a teacher....a glass of wine with dinner is necessary to get thru the month of September. I have never ad any side-effects.
