'Go, and then GO AGAIN: When you go to the bathroom, don't get up righg away when you finish. Wait fo a few seconds and then try to make yourself go again'
I've started thinking about voiding as going to the bathroom to take a good dump---as much effort to void as it is to defecate for me---i take my time to void
I must have been toilet trained with the sound of water running! LOL!
I went to a class and the said do your thing and then get up, wash your hands, clean the sink, arrange the towels or whatever is in your bathroom, then sit down and go again!
Back when I was "healthy" around age 4 I was always told that I just wasn't peeing right. That I obviously thought it was fun to act sick like parts of my body weren't normal! That I obviously wanted "special" treatment when there is ONLY my holding back some urine in order for new underwear to be bought for me; because I saw new Garfield printed ones the time I was out with Mom at Kmart or Rich's. I MADE Mom buy them to have me appear well kept, after I peed myself out in town again and there were STILL errands to be finished THAT day and it was UNSAFE/ UNREALISTIC to lock a child that young alone in the car when it was 27 degrees outside in January!
I ALWAYS pee, and then need to pee again or 3, 4 drips to come out again. I basically got used to it and always wear a menstruation pad or liner every single day to catch the spot (the 5th little pee) that just IS how life is for me with MS.
The first few times I was sent to the neuro; he explained the "Hesitancy" that IS a symptom of MS, to my mother and I. That a person with MS usually cannot just pee once and get up quickly; as if their bladder were fully empty. How there are times that a person feels like they need to pee, when they are there on the toilet waiting to pee; NOTHING HAPPENS for a minuet or 2. When it does start, it can just be a teaspoon full and the muscle shuts as if it were done the entire job of voiding. The person should stay there and try to pee again; after maybe 5 minuets it should start again and with hope, techniques a bladder may be retrained to function again properly. There are many ways to treat that symptom Very well, an Urologist will explain properly
Those first few times I saw him (the neuro) I didnt like him at all, I thought he was only after money and trying to pin an MS label onto me for his quota to fill with ill people to get money for himself and family, as does every dr. right?!? Why would anyone want to be a dr. anyway?? It CANT be they are interested in that aera of disease and WANT to help people; people SUCK and are evil! How phony does anyone want to act/ be?!
Yes I know I may/ might have trust/ power/ believeng in goodness of people issues; sorry. Its just how life teaches us sometimes.
thats what the adult brerif does, just let it go so I'm not up so much during night...better than indwelling cath, just watch skin integrety by wiping butt wit soap & water in morning.
