My NEUTERED male Brittany Spanial--org. & wht...gave me a scare right before dark! I had sprayed some nematodes in the dog yards, for fleas, etc.... And, decided to spray the rest of the yard, or what I could before dark! So, I thought I let my Britt's run out in the yard & play while I'm doing this!

1st mistake! Let 4 out at the same time! 2nd mistake I was trying to do 2 things at the same time, like spray nematodes & keep an eye on 4 dogs at the same time!

So, my male, Neutered Britt....took off through the woods & then came out the 1st time when I called him! But then came right past me & took off through the lower part! Went to my neighbors & was just sitting/laying there off to the corner of their double wide, when I finally found him! I called him & called him & called him! The damned dog wouldn't come at all!!! This is the 1st time EVER! that he ain't come when called!!!

I was freaking out!!! I went a little distance in the woods to look for him! There's an old house in the woods from way back in the great depression days! Roof & floor are caved in! I thought maybe that he was trapped in there, or hurt real bad! Then, I thought that maybe he was hot on a trail of something & wasn't going to stop until he got it! Brittanies are hunting dogs!

Then, I'm not far from the highway, so I go to thinking OMG! What if he ran through the woods towards the hwy!? He might be getting ran over right now, while I'm here calling him & looking for him! When he first didn't come & I knew that I was going to have to look for him, I focussed on getting the others first! I coudn't afford to lose them all! And, I knew that the others would follow me wherever I went! So, I got them up first! Pup had gone with Tunder but when he heard me calling both of them & I kept calling, pup--Chief came back! So that was 3!

Now!? I had to focus on finding number 4! So, I went in the woods again, a short distance, looked, listened, NOTHING!!! So, then I went back in the house & gathered a leash & another collar just in case he did'nt have one on, or somehow got out of it, etc....He did have one on as it turns out! But, sometimes they don't! I had given them all a bath yesterday so most of them had collars on!

Now!? Where to start looking!? Do I drive to the hwy 1st, or do I drive down the road behind my place!? My neighbor has a dog chained right on the other side of my line! I figured that Thunder maybe went that way to check it out!? So, I opted to go that way first! In the mean time I had debated as to whether to go on foot or in the van! I opted for the van, because it would take me all night to go a little distance on foot! And, then I'd have to walk all the way back with him, & if he was injured I'd have to carry him back! So I opted for the van!

But this worried me also, because I might not see him! And, he might run in front of me & I might him him myself!? And, that would kill me! And, you can't see everything & drive so you can easily miss a 35 pound dog & a ton of woods, yards, houses, etc..... But, I went down the road in back of me 1st! And, went to the end! Then, I thought, okay, what now!? Do I get out & walk down the long drive & walk around that part of the neighborhood & maybe spot him on foot & it would give me a better chance of seeing him! Or do I turn around & get to the hwy real quick first to make sure that he's not on the hwy!? So I opted to turn the van around & go back out, planning to go toward the hwy...

But I kept looking up into my neighbors yard because I thought if he'd be anywhere he'd be there. When I came down in that direction I had missed him because as it turns out he was to the back diagonal corner of their doublewide, just laying/sitting there! I don't have any ideal what his problem was but he wasn't moving! I didn't see him until I turned the van around to go back out. And, almost missed him!? But as I was moving the van I saw something org & wht I thought out of the corner of my eye! I thought OMG!!!! Could that be my Thunder??? And, I did a doubletake & looked harder, & was fixing to get out & see!?

So, I stopped the van, looked harder & it looked like him!? So I got out & moved closer! It was! I called him to come to me, but he just stayed still, didn't move at all!!! Didn't run away, or take off nowhere but didn't come either!? Then, I thought he was hurt real bad, maybe my neighbors dog had torn him up real bad & he was dying or something!? So I risked been eaten by their dog, that was fighting to break it's chain & get both of us!!! But, I had to not worry about that dog! I had to get Thunder! And, I was worried that my neighbor would shoot me or my dog, or both of us! Not a good neighbor!!! I was really running on thin ice here!!! Then, I thought, maybe the neighor knew he was there & had shot him or something!? And, that terrified me even more!!!

But, I got to him, he seemed okay, so I snaped the leash on & we hightailed it for the van! But it wasn't over!!! I couldn't burn the hell out of there because I had lost the van keys in the neighbors yard! So, now!? I had to secure Thunder in the van with the leash & go back for my keys!!! And, had to try & find them & get out of the yard before the neighbor came out & made mense meat out of me!? So, I went back for the keys! Found them in the nick of time & ran like hell & got the hell out of there!

Now MY DOG WAS OKAY!!! BUT I WAS GOING TO KILL HIM MYSELF NOW!!!!!! FOR PUTTING ME THAT WHOLE NIGHTMARE & VERY VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION!!!! GOING IN MY WOODS WAS DANGEROUS! COULD HAVE GOTTEN INTO BEES!? COULD HAVE GOTTEN SNAKE BITTEN!!!!??? AND SO COULD HE!? THEN, HE & ME COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY MY NEIGHBORS GERMAN SHEPHERD??? MIGHT BE A HUSKY? COULDN'T TELL!? HUSKY DOESN'T WORRY ME!!! GERMAN SHEPHARD DOES! AND, IT LOOKED LIKE A GERMAN SHEPHERD TO ME!? BUT I WASN'T GETTING CLOSE ENOUGH TO FIND OUT! It was raising immortal hell & was trying to get to us, esp... me & I didn't want to find out how mean or not mean it might be!?

Stupid little jerk of mine wouldn't come to me!!!! That's the first time EVER that he has not eventually came! He's always hard headed & I have to call him several times, but this time, he wouldn't come at all!!!! Was just defiant as hell! Either that or something is wrong with his hearing!!! I am going to have his hearing checked! I tell you that!!! In the mean time I was going to kick his butt & let him do some very very long time-out in his crate! I know that I shouldn't have spanked him, because it might make matters worse next time!? But I did!!! I was so damned angry at that damned dog that I could have bitten a damned ten penny nail into!!! And, or spit them!!!

I don't live far from the hwy!!! I don't live on it! But, I don't live far! A hunting dog like a Britt.... could be there in less than 2 minutes!!! I was terrified!!!! I thought that he had gone deep into the woods & may even be on the other side & at the hwy..... That he had gotten on the hwy or had gotten ran over!? Ever on the hwy or on some other road!? When, he kept not coming I thought something terrible had happened to him! I was ready to dial 911!!! And, to get the fire department out there to help me come the woods!? Or some damned agency!? Could have cost me & him big time!!! And, all my other dogs could have paid for it too!?

I BOUT HAD A HEART ATTACK OVER THAT STUPID DOG OF MINE!!! I have a fenced in area off my front door & one off my back door & they don't run lose. But they do like to get out of that small area & exercise their legs/running! I always stay right there with them. Never leave them out there unattended! Just in case!? But I was fooling with that stupid sprayer spraying those damned nematodes out in my yard! I know that they love to get their exercise & I can't pen them up forever!? But, that will be his last time outside the fenced area w/o an electronic collar on his butt! Or until I get the rest of the yard fenced in! And, we will be doing a lot of COME drills in the mean time!!!

He just lost his freedom! And, I was about dead!!! That about killed me! Then, the damned fool turned over a bucket of water all over my damned dog room! And, I had to grab towels & soak up water forever, & then soak myself in the shower because I was nasty as hell by this time! And, then I had to do laundry! And, now I got to go put them in the dryer & get some much needed rest!

Because I got a big day ahead! I got to go by this place where this guy is trying to help me out, financially! He's tallking about doing a fund raiser for me to help me out with things!? I will tell you that great story in another discussion!
