Doctor Office Professionalism????

when I call my neuro now, I get routed to the answering machine. Really? Even to make an appointment, I have to leave a message so they have to call me back. They don't respond back the same day either. So I keep calling to hopefully get a real person. At 4:20 pm, by mell cell phone time, the message changes to "the office is currently closed please call back during regular business hours between 8 am and 4:30 pm. Really???Is this becoming standard practice now in your doctor's office, too??? I am just madder than a wet cat right now. All I want is them to call the CORRECT pharmacy to refill my scripts, and to think that the insurance company is giving them a raise in '13 to a 45 dollar copay. I am so pissed. How ridiculous is this. Not the first time this has happened. So I quiestion if all doctor's are doing this now?

Other then off hours, I have NEVER gotten an answering machine at my neuros office. If the secretary/office attendant is busy my neuro answers the phone herself or another office staff answers. Sometimes I get a "do you need me right now or can I call you back in an hour" type response, but I always get a response.

I wouldn't stand for nothing but answering machines! What if you were in the hospital and they needed to consult with your neuro? Unacceptable! Even off hours if I leave a message for my neuro she calls back within 30 minutes. Granted it's a small practice and I've been with her for 10 years, but you have to rely on them, they should be available!

I would have to say my neuros nurse is the same way, I call to inquire if they received insurance forms, call several times with in a week trying to find out the proper fax number, leave my number ask for a call back with the proper fax number, no response. I was shocked one day I called and another nurse answered the phone who stated the regular nurse was off for a few day, I inquired if she knew if my neuro had received the insurance form, she went and checked with him, and then gave me the correct fax number. I'm glad I wasn't have any type of issues that needed immediate attention.
