I am at the point where I am needing to find a neurologist. do I need to get a Dr to refer me or can I call one to make an appointment

If you have an HMO or POS insurance plan then more than likely yes. However if you have a PPO plan no. Either way find you a neurologist that you like, make sure they take your insurance then ask your PCP about a referral. I personally would tell your PCP either way so they are aware and getting your notes from the neurologist.

Also, this helped me a lot and was cheaper. I would look up all the labs that are associated with MS. Such Vit D, sjorgens (?), lupus etc. And have your PCP draw them. Take those along with any MRI's you may have had done with you to the neurologist.
