My court hearing didn't last very long, probably 20 minutes.
The judge and my attorney talked for a little while and then the judge called someone and they talked about my medical records and work history. Then the judge asked him if I could still do my old job and he said no. After they hung up the judge asked me what I did the day before and since I'd rode in a car for eight hours to get to SLC for the hearing there wasn't much to tell. Then the judge told me I'd get my benefits in a little while and to send in my travel expenses for reimbursement.

I was amazed it was so easy once I got to court after all the waiting and hassle that was involved in getting there. Try not to stress over it, just be honest and not too optimistic.

The lawyer and the judge talked for a minute. The judge then asked me a couple questions. It probaly took 10 minutes and we were done. I did get ss but didn't know until two days later when my lawyer called me. Good luck. Don't sweat it.

My attorney flew in, we went to court. My attorney and I were the only ones allowed in the court room. My attorney answered two questions. The judge looked through the submitted paper work and said "approved"!

My attorney and I left the court room. He was paid by check from Social Security a few days later!

Social Security Disability and SSI disability are not the same, though they are both administered by the Social Security Administration. The requirements are different - you might get one, or the other, or even sometimes, both. Depends on your circumstances.

The court procedures are pretty much the same for both, though.
