I just noticed that when I respond to a post a short sentence appears under the message box that says, "In adding this Comment, I _____, do promise to be nice." I know I was off this site for a couple of weeks, but I'm curious: why the comment? Or has it always been there and I am just noticing it now?

I hope I'm always nice! I'm here to support others as well as get support from you all. Does this comment just appear for me? Did I offend someone? I certainly hope not. If I did, please let me know. The last thing I would want to do is offend someone.

you didn't do anything wrong! it's there for everyone. i'm assuming it's there because of the rash of complaints D.S. has been getting in the last few months, but i don't know for sure

I just wanted to say that it's so hard to find support groups of ms or chat rooms. I don't know if it's the web making it so hard or just me..

I have not gotten this statement before. It kind of creeps me because I now know that others are reading the comments. I LIKED this site because it appeared to be on the private side.

Sorry that this has upset you. I did not even notice it till you mentioned it. I still consider it more private than the moderated chat rooms.

Your e-mails are private, but your Profile ID, any unlocked journals and anything that you post on the discussion boards are public.

All you need to do is Google your Profile ID name and you will see some of your comments show up.

It's kind of shocking at first, but then it makes you think about the kinds of things that you are posting with a little bit more care.

As someone else has mentioned lately, nothing on the web is private except messages, and I'm not convinced they are. Anytime you post, it can be read by members, those not members who are just reading, the administrators of the site, and anyone googling the subject.

it's not a disclaimer.. it's a preclaimer? anything you've promised to be nice about, if it's not, they claim you broke YOUR promise?

I'm sure it took them MONTHS to come up with that one. cute

but what if im not feeling "nice " that day...what if im in pain and need to vent?? is this not what this board was created for?? MS support...hmmmm...and yes larry your right...grin...i bet it did take them months to come up with it..lol...so if we are not feeling nice..we should stay away..rofl..but alas..grin..do we have to be "nice" in sub groups i wonder...grin..

All things considered...nothing on the web is private. Hard Drives store things that have even been deleated.

I'm just relieved that the comment isn't just for me. Phew! I thought I'd been naughty and I couldn't recall when....

I agree that this site seems to be one of the more private sites. And I realize, too, that anything I write is 'out there' for anyone to view. It's worth it, though, to communicate with the wonderful individuals on this site. I'll just try to continue to be 'nice'.

I just noticed this on one of the other support groups. I made a comment on it there. I have never seen any statements that appeared to be out of line since I have been writing on the support groups. I might not be as nice to the powers that be (USGovernment)when millions of people can't afford medical treatment due to lack of money.
