I ask because I've recently found that (R) Lipoic Acid I've been taking is much more beneficial at 2400 mgs a week then at the bottle directions of 50-150 mgs a day.
Thanks in advance
It's a supplement, not an Rx'd drug. Here's a Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnitine
As long as it works, I think I will keep taking it like I am.
Those three you mention were all recommended to me by one of my docs that I truly believe went to some trouble looking into this kind of stuff for me ~ I have more, I will have to find that list so as to give you names of other things you may want to look into ...
I wonder if you've ever heard of, read up on, or tried the Mito-Boost I drink mix & the Mito-Boost II capsules?
Those are two I can recall off the list I'm referring to ...
* definitely felt like the drink mix was beneficial but I haven't been able to replace it (I think it has been discontinued, but not sure)
* the capsules smell like cat s*** & I can't get behind those ...
My MS doc was going to do the Provigil with me if the L-Carnitine did not work. He respected my wishes to stay away from a drug if we could.
Thanks JaniceKay - I am going to google search on Mito boost and see what I can find. THANKS!!!!
Here is what I found. Do you think it may be it?
"Mito-Boost Caps enhances cellular energy protection while protecting mitochondrial membranes from free radical damage. Mitochondria are the energy powerhouses of the cells, responsible for supplying all your normal energy needs. Mito Boost provides key minerals in succinate form that support mitochondrial production of ATP, the bodys energy molecule. Carnitines, lipoic acid, n-acetyl cysteine and EDTA enhance the transport of fuel into the mitochondria and help provide membrane stability. Mito Boost Caps is most effective when combined with D-Ribose and CoQ10 or Idebenone."
Yep, that's the stuff ~ it used to be recommended that the Mito Boost I drink mix was very complimentary to the caps (I think there was a problem w/ the shelf like of the mix, because it would change color & solidify, no matter what storage conditions ~ it was verrry high in Vitamin B).
Some of the same things you mention taking have been recommended by Dr. Lance Perricone as well ~ he's a dermatologist, not the 1st place you'd look for this kind of advice ~ BUT ~ his theory that your skin is a window to how you are on the inside & his knowledge of foods that are inflammatory & start the vicious insulin-cycleis pretty illuminating (IMHO) ... here's a link: http://www.dailyperricone.com/2009/03/perricone-tv-dr-perricone-on-omega-3/
